Well, somewhat so. Wolin has basically put us on the backfoot and scrambling for a new target. With Utrecht in Norwegian hands, a whole army is sitting uselessly in Wolin. I aim for Aix, but Norway is there as well.

Should we just have just ignored Wolin?

I should have abandoded the attack on Wolin when the first Knight showed up. Sigh.

West.

Lisbon should be ours, the north is cockblocked. I severly underestimated the amount of DoF blocking possible.

East.

Basically the Wolin gamble has failed spectacularly. Just imagine all this crap in the east not being useless for 20 turns and active in the west.

And with less faith plunder we could have had more money. Yeah I severly screwed this one up, somehow.

Going through the motions at this point. cry

Even with hindsight, trying to grab Wolin was the right play. We couldn't have known about the double knight intervention ahead of time, and even THEN we could have gotten the city if the Swedes hadn't rolled spectacularly well. SO, if we have magical foreknowledge of what will happen, we keep our longship back from pillaging and we block the Swedes out of Wolin instead. If we don't know what will happen, then we have every reason to expect success.

We're still doing okay. The others will have setbacks, too. Let's just focus on the best we can do for right now - pick off isolated cities nad keep spamming beserkers. Once the Wolin army gets into action again our snowball will resume.

How's the GA race gone? I see we've got one on the way - is he #3, or #4?>

Back in action. Report next turn.

Once again the RNG screws over mightily at Aix.

Yeah, I am [b]conceding[b], basically we have an army which has been useless for 25 turns except for helping those guys with luck.

How bad is it?

Well, it's not great.

Aix-la-Chappelle falling meant that most of the Norwegian army was between the Danes and Paris. I tried to rush some berserkers out of Rouen to hit it from the other direction and I was ONE berserker short of snatching Paris from Norway. :/ I've got a toehold around Poitiers in the south and will try for that.

Lisbon fell relatively easily, but the Norwegians took Galicia and Granada north and south. I have a few berserkers there and I'm trying to concentrate most of my build-up in this area to lunge across for Madrid.

I also activated Vinland and got a paltry 100 points for it.

Mostly I'm going through the motions for Sweden. The Norwegian snowball is intense, but maybe I can grab Cordoba and Poitiers if I play my cards right.

Norway got lucky AGAIN and sniped Poiters with high dice rolls. I see why you're frustrated with this game - not one thing has bounced our way.
