The best advice to give an aspiring map maker is don't make maps.

I intend to comment on your actual work, Charriu, but your image hoster is blocked by my work firewall. So it'll have to wait until I've got time at home to look.

TBH, there are a lot of geometric maps that have been played in both PBEMs and in PBs.
Players always lust after a balanced yet random map. That's what people want to play.
What you need to do is roll a random map, and figure out how you would play each start. Where to settle second and third cities, if you would need any wonders, how to hook strat resources, where borders are likely to fall.

If you enjoy the mapmaking for its own sake, then it's worthwhile. It's only if you're expecting gratitude that you'll come up short. Edit: And, honestly, half of that is bias. If someone likes the map they will toss out a 'Thanks, Mardoc!' at the start of their thread and then focus on playing. If someone doesn't like the map, it'll come up every fifth post...

I love making maps. Just don't care about what the plebes think, make those beautiful maps.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
Thanks for all the encouragement and motivation boosts for an aspiring map maker.

That's a totally different approach that I also may try out, but not this time. I really want to know how much time and effort it takes to make a map from scratch. So to progress this thread I will propably start on making a map around the Inner sea concept Inner sea If somebody still wants to give some feedback about my concepts, you can still do so for the next 24 hours or so.
