Misty Shades of Grey [SPOILERS]

I think Cairo got a pretty lucky event on T49 and got a 100 gold GS in his city. Or then just +1c for a tile, I'm not really sure which... but his GNP has been pretty high even with BAR.

At least I think that horticulturist event has that option if you have 100 gold.

Mack has settled close to Sugar (how do I know, well his cap is at 7). But I can't... damn barbs.

At least it's not on a hill, still it's going to be a pain to take double archers without Copper. I have no idea where the copper is, this was supposed to be "critical resources close" anyways...

Demos.

That 51 GNP is quite impressive.

Some interesting stuff happening.

Someone got a GS on T60, I think that is Bob with his PHI. I revolted to GK + Pacifism (yeah, you read that right!) on T61. I am getting my first shade soon (should be in the cap on T67) which I will settle as Great Merchant for +8g (=12g with GK). I will also quickly build EC (1-turned) on T62, then I'll also build and Market which I should finish on T67 (Festivals finishes on T65). Then I'll run double specialist for 9 GPP. I need to come up with a plan to take the barb city. That's 2 happy resources. There are 2 archers fortified so taking it with regular warriors at 3 str is not possible. Still not sure where the copper is...

EDIT: Actually, I think grabbing Hunting soon might be worth it. Not considering my UU but rather the 2 happy resources (Ivory + Furs) inside my borders. That's 300 beakers though...

That's fun! What sort of percentage boost will you get to your research rate?

Any other units creeping close to shadedom?

Well, at the moment going full research I am making 40 bpt and -17 gpt. So that's going to be a pretty big boost indeed. With added merchant specialist later I will get another +10 gpt and I might be able to go full research without losing any gold!

I two other warriors with more than 2 xp, one with 6 xp the other with 5. Both in different city locations waiting for the barbs to come... I have mostly seen barbs from south only so far (that's where my 15 xp warrior is waiting to kill a warrior next turn for 2 xp) for some reason.

Yay, 2nd turn today. Revolted to GK and it shows in the demos...

Also, I won against the barb war and so the upcoming shade is ready!

In other news someone got Great Prophet (mack). Will he bulb a religion?

Well, mack bulbed FoL! That's interesting, he doesn't have Mining then... but he has Hunting. FoL would've been a great religion for me as well (recon units). I could still use it but of course no holy city.

Well, this is annoying...

Demos look good nonetheless.

Now that you remind me, I'm pretty sure that Great People yields in FFH2 are less than in BtS. So I think you are getting the Palace bonus, it's just that the base is lower.

I never really understood the reasoning behind the various nerfs of Great People and specialists in FFH

Oh, I didn't remember that at all! This sure tells how often I settle Great People...

Actually, I think those numbers are neither bugged nor nerfed: I'm pretty sure settled GMs provide just 1 food + 6 gold in base BtS as well. Settled great people go nicely with multipliers, but even so their settled yields take forever to catch up with their one-shot abilities. (Obviously not relevant to shades.)
