So, turn 51 our exploration west makes contact.
Suboptimal has indeed levied troops and Woden looks defiant.
Also they dow each other turn 52.
More to come.
Home front: Chop Archer to monument, going to handbuild 3 settlers over the next turn. DoF offered to pindicator. If declined Iron Working and Swords and off to Australia.

No aggression whatsoever till we hit our stride, this game should and will be used to try to build my way to victory. War will be only used as a last resort.
As the lurkers will probably find this unrealistic, I resolved to write this down 100 times so I manage this.
Make Peace, not War. Make Peace, not War. Make Peace, not War. Make Peace, not War. Make Peace, not War.....
Well, you get the idea.

Hmm, with half the milpower he declined. Must be feeling sore.
The question is now. Am I better off conquering Zanzibar or making a play at Australia. 100% production is not that tough. Need to think.
To have any chance of success I would need 3 swords and 3 archers supported by warriors and hope he does not have some. I could perhaps overwhelm his city settled towards me, unsure about his capital as I have not scouted it out, but when has that stopped me?
In any case, is the risk worth it? Nicodranas being former Babylon is under threat till the end of the game. It is a juicy +100% production for 20 turns for Australia if liberated.
Found Nan Madol, Encampment is the quest. Kidding me? Nan Madol?
That is some bad luck right there, what a great CS for the other continent. Maybe we raze with galleys?:D

So, Turn 55.
Let´s do an overview that noone stumbles blindly through this anymore. Well, especially Banzai.
Stats:
Things to note:
Suboptimal and Woden are at war and milpower is high. If not a DotF play comes along, my money is on Woden. Which is bad.
Suboptimal´s culture and science is awesome. Blame a NW and Nan Madol for this.
Rowain/Pindicator somehow managed to become former run in 50 turns. I will soon have scouted out his start and see what the fuss is about.
Alhazrad ignores military so far, which is why I accepted a DoF and continue with my plan to conquer Kandy and Zanzibar.
No need for a archer/warrior war against Australia. I need to outtech him or get an advantage to beat him in a defensive war.
Great Persons. I have the GS on lockdown as expected. Hypatia would not come forward which is a damn shame though. Pindicator or Rowain made a play for religion which is tremendously bad imo. You have a defensive advantage and campi take advantage of appeal which is high early game. Quite disappointing as Suboptimal except for his untimely death due war showed exactly how you play Australia in PBEM #6.
Also check out the Great General points. Woden knows what he is doing. Either Suboptimal gets DotF and turtles or I will seriously need to help Suboptimal to stay alive. I am not too worried about Australia anymore. Korea will be a problem though, he seems to be doing well economically. Right now I think I want to continue on towards Korea after Kandy.
The Great Scientist eurekad Currency which is useless, Construction which is ok (as you never get a mill going before Games and Recreation come around in my experience) and Military Tactics. Well I need my campi for the science rate. And Hypatia when I am at it. I will probably decline the next GS. If Alhazrad does this as well and noone has any points what does happen? I need a third campus and I need to restrict the amount of cities I have. Or get Colloseum asap. Shame about ToA. I would so need a camp.
Which Kandy has:
Hmm, a plan is forming.

Cities:
With the monument chopped out and the farm repaired soon we are in ok shape. Important was the campus down south. You can see that I am having fun with barbs. 2 archers and 1 warrior. 1 warrior and 1 archer will take care of the camp which hassles me. The other archer will escort the new settler which is built with Colonization and settle east and continue onwards towards Kandy.
Rexxentrum needs a water mill and could be an awesome city then. Until that happens, settler factory. The chopped monument brought down the iron from 16 turns to 6 turns, which means an Iron mine in 6 turns and a swordsman for Kandy.
Getting a builder going for the 2 stones at Nicodranas. Will do another builder then, double farm and chop a settler. Bought monument.
Production poor but has a monument from being a City State. In any case, will get 1 settler out and if we manage to get our glacial pace under control chop overflow into an encampment or commercial district. Probably won´t happen though. Magnus is coming here.
So Priorities for the next turns. Conquer Zanzibar maybe with 2 pillages of mines and a builder capture:
Get 3 settlers out, settle either SW or E of Nicodranas. and 1 site SE of Rexxentrum. Not sure where the 3rd one goes.
Save up money, get 4-5 swords, 3 archers and wreck Korea´s day. Sideline Australia. Get ToA and Colloseum. Tech away from Woden and Suboptimal.
We will see how that goes.

Turn 58:
North. Pushing the barbarians back, getting a 4th settler per chop, iron mine in two turns. Money goes into one sword and 2 tiles for another +3 campus at the new city.
Income dropped due
Southeast. I waited a turn too long and the builder lost a charge. Zanzibar might be a bit hairy until my 2 archers come around.
West, builder done next turn off to Nicodranas for quarry, and double harvest of stone with Magnus into more settlers.

Turn 60
Zanzibar offers a bit more resistance, but nothing good maneuvring, a bit of plunder and 2 archers can not handle.
Era Score is 20/24. Impossible to get a Dark Age even if you actually scout. A Golden Age? Difficult without real push to do so. Classical Age and Swordsman would do it. Ah well.
Will be interesting if Australia forward settles me. Loyalty could be a problem if Zanzibar is mine.

Sorry I have been busy so a bit remiss in my lurking. The stop go pace of the game has not helped. Considering that y are going to war what gov will you take? Oligarchy? Do any of the legacy cards apeal to you such that you might want to grab on gov then swap next Civic?

Depends. I am unsure if I want to for a quick conquest of Korea. I would need a bit more troops then that.
Turn 61
Zanzibar
Before
After, careful maneuvring. Healing, Pillaging 50 and kill a warrior. Next turn we do some damage.
3rd campus layed down.
Korea is looking tasty, but 4 cities already. Only 3 swordsman and 1 warrior? I rather go at Kandy first. I am better off teching away with my many cities atm and striking Australia as soon as the DoF ends. So DoF with Korea as soon as I am near Kandy.
