Civ 6 Release and Update Discussion Thread

Eleanor of Aquitane has been previewed. Can lead either England or France, as speculated.

Ability: Each Great Work gives -1 Loyalty per turn to nearby enemy cities, and cities that loyalty-defect with your pressure dominant skip the Free City stage and join up with Eleanor immediately.

Not likely to be super useful in MP, given that humans will probably not put themselves in a position where loyalty-flipping is likely. Besides that, she replaces good parts of both civs - Victoria has the free melee units, and Catherine has (after R&F's buffs to Diplomatic Visibility) basically all the worthwhile parts of France. Could be fun for an SP always-peace domination attempt.

For MP draft lotteries we should go by civ not by leader as the civ bonuses are much bigger and the extra leaders don't add anything to the game. One Greece leader is clearly better than the other and Eleanor is very weak. There's no reason to let Greece, England and France to be selectable more often than other civs. Just pretend that Eleanor and that Greece leader don't exist and your good to go.

This is quite a bit stronger than it may at first appear, - 1 loyalty is as much pressure as a population or a monument. Loyalty rarely goes beyond double digits naturally (i.e. without governors), so a filled out Theatre square can double or triple loyalty pressure in a frontline city. It also means it's hard to settle up against Aquitane which is pretty valuable in MP.

I'd still rather have Vicky's Redcoats and free melee units of course, but still.

Kinda agree, you omitted India, though. Chandra´s ability has yet to be tested. Pericles is useless and yeah I think Eleanor in a MP is kinda useless as well. Any sane human will not wait for loyalty to slowly drop.

Chandra's useless in MP too; the effect is powerful, but the trigger is impossible. Nobody lets Casus Belli wardecs get off the ground even when the only thing at stake is the Nationalism inspiration.

Instadows? Yeah, but they have not happened so far.

War of Territory Expansion requires 2 cities within 10 titles so an instadow with Chandra is impossible.

I thought you meant instadows on Chandra or Persia upon encountering. But yeah, the other way round works as well.

While my ego loves having the QoTM, this one is too awesome to ignore.

War of Territorial Expansion, if I recall correctly, also requires that you denounce the target and wait 5-ish turns before it becomes an option. You don't have to instadow Chandragupta, you just have to give him the finger when he telegraphs it.
