I'm interested in if mackoti, an otherwise excellent player historically, can learn and adjust to FFH2 and its various idiosyncrasies quickly enough to not unknowingly sabotage his own build.

Bob mentioned Mack winning an FFH game played on here, but I don't remember which. Mack might be doing sneaky Mack things... contemplate

Mackoti is sandbagging big time with the whole "how does this game work?" routine. He is anything but a FFH noob.

Well, he had me fooled, but I'm rubbish at FFH (much as I love it). Up until around the point he had managed to get str 7 and 8 units (albeit unique) while others were still researching BW.

Is his real acheivement being so fast to get all the beakers for the pretty toys he's managed to build?

His real achievement was noticing that Aurorarcher was running a farmers gambit and deciding to call him on it.  And...possibly knowing that the Nilhorn giants don't show up on the power graph to give Auror some false complacency.  Auror picked up Writing, KotE, Hunting - he had plenty of beakers and could have easily reached Bronze, if he was appropriately concerned about Mackoti.  He was just hoping to go straight to tier 3 units, I believe, and thought there was enough space on the map that he could get there in time.

Even so, I won't be surprised if Auror manages to stabilize.  So much of his economy is concentrated in his capital, and Bronze warriors are quite efficient, maybe efficient enough to drive Mack into offering peace.  Also, if Auror makes it to his move 4 assassins...well, that should be able to drive Mackoti out of his territory, maybe even make Mack the defender.  Assassins make it easy to pick off a stack one unit at a time, even if you have to start by suiciding a warrior to create the unit vulnerable to assassination.

The constant melee in this game is very entertaining.

I'm not sure if Bob is better off standing pat and hoping mackoti is sufficiently kneecapped by the incoming dogpile from Dave and (maybe?) Cairo, or if he should commit to joining the dogpile himself to make sure mackoti hopefully dies while risking Cairo consolidating and getting to all his fun late-game toys himself.

I know I'm late but it still surprises me that people often dont keep an event fund. So many game-changing things can happen at any time. Getting a free great person is such a huge boost, especially early on.
