Turn 40 was my first time being the last one to play (forgot to check in before work!) so I got to end turn 40 and start off turn 41. I discovered pottery on turn 40, and timed my barracks build in Eggnog Paradise and warrior build in Rooster Lake to finish at the same time. Well, it was more of a coincidence, but it worked out. Granaries have been started in both cities, with the granary in Eggnog Paradise taking three turns, and Eggnog Paradise taking three turns to grow to size five, then it'll build a settler for my copper city. Fishing is queued up next. Someone also built Stonehenge (Commodore's score went up 16- probably him? I'm not the best at knowing how many points a wonder, tech, or city are. The only other score increases were 6 and 7.). That means I'm going to lose the border war to both of my neighbors, with Donovan's EXP Incans pumping out their culture granaries, and Commodore having free monuments from Stonehenge. Maybe that means heading to writing after fishing instead of animal husbandry, so I can get started catching up. There's also a damaged barbarian warrior to my south, healing up and showing off his new Combat I promotion. Someone lost a scouting unit!
Turn 41 saw one of my warriors stumble upon a new face- this time to Donovan's west!
Alhazard (going by Icehazard in game) is Zara Yaqob of Mongolia, the lone creative leader in the game. Donovan might have some angry Mongolians on his border at some point- we'll see how that front turns out!

Someone directed me to this page once, and I now pay that kindness forward: https://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/strateg...explained/ I never got the hang of tracking everything to the dot, but I found it kind of fun to do.
The best resource for the nitty gritty on score points that I've seen was written by RB's own Cyneheard: Gilette Cloak and Dagger
Nutty how much info the game can give you on turn one.
Good luck and thanks for the reporting!

Thank you for the two links! They were interesting- I knew about a few of the tidbits, but it's nice to have a little more in-depth analysis and meaning behind the numbers. Now I know it was Commodore (score increase 16) who built Stonehenge.

Buddhism was founded in a distant land a few turns ago. Donovan founded Maccu Picchu a few turns ago as well; I finally got a warrior over to take a peek:
With the terrace likely under construction (half cost for being EXP on top of it), I'm going to lose that gold resource, unless I can get a library and a monument in Rooster Lake before he gets his terrace and monument both in. I don't even have mysticism yet, so it's not likely going to work out in my favor! My settler for the copper fishing town is due next turn.

Turtledove has been founded to claim my copper!
Named after my favorite author (if you're into alternative history, Harry Turtledove is a great author to check out), I'm not thrilled that this city is only three tiles away from Eggnog Paradise. Once I get a lighthouse and get those lake tiles 3/0/2, it'll be a nice fishing town.
A few turns ago, a great general was born in a distant land. Glad I didn't start by that player! Chumchu, Mehmed II (EXP/ORG) of the Aztecs, is the only player below me in score right now, so I'm assuming he either launched a failed rush or was victim to a neighbor's early aggression. Naturally I have no idea at this point. Also in the news, the Oracle was built in a distant land! Irismono & GeneralKilCavalry, Roosevelt (IND/ORG) of Mali, their score went up by 16, then 12 more upon their log in, so I'm guessing they had something to do with that.

Long time, no update!
Here's a current screenshot:
RegentMangrad was founded this turn. I didn't realize Ollantaytambo was three tiles away- I assumed the borders were already expanded before I settled. I'm going to chop the library to stop the culture pain from Ollantaytambo's terrace, which has or will be built soon (I assume). I should have had the workers ready to go already, but they're only making their way now- a sign I'm not the top notch Civ IV player. I also didn't realize I ordered the worker to the northern grasslands hill in a previous turn, so when I moved the worker to the southern grasslands hill tile this turn, the top worker then moved to the north. Some worker ![smoke smoke](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smoke.gif) there.
Just discovered animal husbandry, and there are horses right next to Eggnog Paradise! A nice find. I'm starting to head to construction for catapults and bridges. I might go for code of laws or currency first, but for now, masonry.
I assumed I was on the eastern end of a rectangle, but reaching the western coast, I'm thinking I'm instead on a pangaea shaped like a number seven, with me on the northeast point of the 7. Icehazard offered me open borders, so the warrior explorer off to the west will turn around and scout out his lands. Icehazard has a warrior in Donovan Zoi's lands, so he shouldn't be offended if I head into his lands.

It is dark times for Regentia- Donovan Zoi has declared war!
And not with the Quechuas I had feared early on. Rather, with five horse archers and three axemen- a much scarier prospect. I have two spears and two axes in RegentMangrad and not much else behind it. I was in the middle of pumping out copper defenders for my cities, so Donovan picked a good time to attack. I was surprised, though, because Donovan declared war on Icehazard to his west, so I thought I was safe for awhile (two workers were captured outside RegentMangrad as they were chopping down forests to deny cover for any potential invaders). But they made peace and Donovan immediately invaded; a pretty good psychological move, if he planned it that way. I'm ages from catapults, so beyond whipping my cities to nothingness and huddling in them, I don't see what I can do to fight this off. I doubt anyone will attack Donovan on their own accord, so I might be headed for an early exit...

Good luck! That does sound like pretty awful timing for you, even three turns later you'd have been in better shape.
Defender does have a lot of advantages in civ, maybe they'll be enough for you.

Well, a few turns have gone by and Regentia has nearly exited the world stage.
After two turns of war, Donovan's mobile forces have captured half of my cities.
With RegentMangrad having two spears and two axes on a hill, I thought it'd put up a decent fight, but the first spear killed a horse archer and a second horse archer withdrew from combat, leaving two badly wounded spears against three more horse units. That lead to the city falling.
I was able to kill a horse archer that was scouting ahead near my capital, and after that I saw no more lone horses doing reconnaissance. However, Donovan must have seen my copper down south, and a whipped spear and token warrior weren't able to stop the mobile units there. Pity I was invaded- Turtledove was almost size four with the clams connected and a library; I was ready to use my philosophical trait and get an academy in the capital! I think that was the most bumming thing about this invasion for me. Down to Eggnog Paradise now.
Today, I logged in for what I thought would be my final turn. Instead, this greeted me:
I was in a Pitboss back in the day (easily over ten years ago) where I was down to my final city (after putting up a much worse defense than I did this game, if you can believe it!) and I basically capitulated to my conqueror, running pacifism and gifting him all my great persons. I had a fun time being the Croatia or Slovakia to World War II Germany. I have no desire to repeat the experience now. Not only can we not negotiate something similar here, it just doesn't sound appealing to play that role again. Plus, I'd only get ten turns or reprieve before the horses would run forward to a copper-less Eggnog Paradise, and the single chariot I could build in the meantime would not aid me very much.
None of the players I've met declared war on Donovan, so unless an unknown player suddenly invaded him, I'm only guessing he's being nice to an old CFC buddy? Can his economy not absorb another city at this time? Who knows. If I can fight Donovan off and make a better peace ( ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) ) I have no problem playing a rump state, but counting down eleven turns to my demise is not in the cards for me this time.
There was a horse archer one tile south of Eggnog Paradise. My combat II spear gave Donovan my reply. He only has four horse units in range, one or two of which is injured, so I don't think he can crack my three spears (one slightly hurt from the attack) on a hill this turn. I was thinking of moving two spears to try and retake an undefended Turtledove next turn, since he can only get two horses as defense there. But that would leave only one injured spear to take on the four horse units in range, since I'm sure Donovan would gladly lose Turtledove in exchange for my capital on a hill. Let's see how much glue we can create on these final turns!
Of course, he could just continue to pillage me back into the stone age and not make a move for a few turns, too...

Here at RB we consider gifting units very bad sportsmanship and a break of the rules.
