So the economic/culture AIs will (sometimes reluctantly) research them. But not Rifling. It also does not help that there are so many other pathways to research before the AI gets bottlenecked and MUST tech Rifling.
It was definitely great that, even with Willem’s reluctance, he was basically 1 turning every tech that was in the way. If Kublai war deccd maybe 10 turns later thst would be gg

It was an impressive (impressively bad  ) achievement to be that far ahead in overall tech while actually trailing in deployed military tech. It was a demonstration of an anti-beeline.

I have to say this was a season of some very unexpected wins. One of the funniest things I've found is that there are 6 civs that are even worth then the Apostolic Palace. 
Those are Bismarck, Frederick, Hatshepsut, Sitting Bull, Victoria and Washington.

Sadly, Victoria has been the _least_ useless of the English leaders in previous seasons. Bring back the overpowered redcoats of original Civ IV!

The peacenik AI's avoid Rifling mainly because of its flavors - they are 10 Military, 1 Production, 1 Science. For comparison, Gunpowder is 9 Military, 4 Production, 4 Science, Assembly Line is 3 Military, 10 Production, 3 Growith, Industrialism is 2 Military, 10 Production, 3 Gold, 4 Growth. The few non-Military flavors Rifling has is not enough to make it a priority even for those that do have Production or Science flavors.
And Elizabeth actually made the Championship match in AI Survivor 1, finishing 4th place, so she's the English leader with the best performance so far.
I don't feel that Bismark deserves such a low place. His greatest weakness is perhaps his peaceweight.

If they won't research Rifling, it does not much matter how good the Redcoats are.
Does anyone know if there is anything in the AI programming to favor techs that unlock their unique unit or building? From the behavior we have seen (including English leaders and rifling) I am guessing not. But it would be interesting to know for certain.

Problem with Twitch VODs usually is that if you aren't a sub, you get an ad every 10 minutes
