Overwriting the save produces exactly the behavior mack reported. You have to delete the old save file when you replay. If you ever see the overwrite prompt, it's too late to salvage things and you'll have to play one more time.

I will be on a summer trip from tomorrow till the beginning of August. I have my old laptop with me but delays are quite likely. I still try to maintain the 1t/d pace but don't be too upset if I fail you.
