Clearly I was insufficiently controversial with my tiers. Would you guys prefer different, more contentious tier listings?

Far too much respect for your opponents.
Quote:The critique I have of England is the same I’ve always had…the game is won or lost at the point that her Special Stuff comes online.
Is there something to be said about later UUs in bigger games? We could flip your quote around and say that if the game isn't won by keshiks, Mongolia's been wasted. (Yeah, yeah, gers.) In some ways, a later unit is a hedge against being gassed by the time the late game rolls around.
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

In some ways, a later unit is a hedge against being gassed by the time the late game rolls around. If the game isn't won by keshik or gers, then yes, Mongolia's been wasted. I've always valued spicing my knight stacks with horse archers for clean up (first strike helps) and tactical pillaging (mobility helps). That said, I don't see the point on a water map to be classic era buffing; medieval knights having amphibious access is a big 'un, though. There is absolutely an argument against units that are too early on a map like this. Pity Greece, Babylon, or Persia.
Back in the actual game, I'm sure this is all about to be a moot point as we bump into Hitru or Gavagai.

Peninsula means we want to cram out as much as we can, getting out of this zone is going to hurt. Please be food near, please be food near.

Turn 24.
Still no sign of intelligent life.
Is anyone out there?
I feel so alone.
Just enough sheep for a Scottish strip club.

This is the kind of hilarity that can only come from a random map.

There's not *really* enough food to work them.

Lots of commerce, but we could use more food. We're delaying warriors until barb warriors appear?
