man colossus is so good lol. 3C coastal tiles as far as the eye can see.

i agree with writing next. now that we've got a bunch of really good commerce tiles we want to smash out libraries asap. Monarchy seems like an obvious choice after that due to our lack of happys, calendar will take too long and we'll need IW as well to really get the benefit of the calendar happies we have.

next city should be the one between the rice and cows to the northeast of Leclerc. the site south of Leclerc will be pretty average until we can clear the jungle, north of raikonnen seems a like an outside possibility (if there's seafood in the fog).

I was about to say the one West of Ricciardo isn't really worth it but on a second look maybe its actually the best choice here? has access to two already-improved tiles, can help work capital cottages, plenty of hammers available and shouldn't really cost us much... hmmm.

would any lurkers like to chime in?

West of Riccardo
Pros - low maintenance. Can work cottages and mines immediately.
cons - will take time to build barracks so that it can expand and work fish. However, it can share Raikkonens, that city has too much food for it's own good right now.

Rice/Cow
Pros - lots of food, generally good city, would be pushing the fog back. Many forests to chop for GL. (However, that may be a task better suited for Verstappen, which will have 3 new forests on border expansion.)
Cons - nothing flashy about it, still takes maintenance, not a great commerce city until the jungles can get chopped.

South of Verstappen for the furs:
Pros - ok city in terms of resources and food if I recall. would give happy
Cons - maintenance through the roof. Probably needs a culture building to be half-decent

Expansion (score increases that are not on the same timestamp as turn-roll:
MSCC:
10/09/2019 04:17:59 75 Magic Science score increased to 362 (+6)
10/02/2019 22:10:08 69 Magic Science score increased to 296 (+5)

Nauf:
10/08/2019 21:50:07 74 naufragar score increased to 261 (+5)

Cairo:
None

SD: 5 cities

MSCC is building cities like crazy and nauf isn't slacking. can't tell how many exactly yet. Also, nauf is turnsplitted. Mr. Cairo, as far as I can tell, isn't expanding much.

Empire screenshots. Writing coming in two turns, I guess one turn faster than expected. Our empire is pretty happy now, we should let the capital grow by building an axeman next. Bottas and leclerc have a slavery-depressed happiness, but that will fade in 5 turns.

I've also started to reposition the sentry net a bit, barbs are beginning to come out through the cracks. We need an axeman or two.

GREAT PERSON IN 3 TURNS - can be an engineer, prophet, merchant, we should really consider what to do with each.

I've set Verstappen to work on a forge, which will take 7 turns. We really should think about what to build there next and a corresponding tech choice.
1. Library - probably the safest choice.
2. Stonehenge. Wouldn't take too long to build and would help fill the continent. We're going to have pretty huge savings. Frankly, I was tempted to start it now instead of a forge.
3. Settler - seize the southern tundra and furs. Would raise our happy cap to 6, which is decent enough.
4. TGL. This would require changing our tech path, but may be worth it. We could get masonry, then grab poly/org rel and then get a better discount on monarchy. This would add around 12 turns to our tech plan, and save 1, maybe 2 on monarchy. We have our great person in three, which probably should factor into this consideration.
Golden age would give us boosted 4 commerce tiles on the sea, better than any currently existing cottages. We'd also be able to complete wonders extremely quickly with the industrious bonus, possibly GL and Stonehenge all in verstappen all within the golden age using two chops.

Another point in favor of GL is that we're intercontinental with SD and the other continent. however, open borders may not be too wise, it'd show our frailty. In any case, 5-6 extra commerce would be pretty great.

Also, the current plan, as it stands I think, is to settle the next city 3 tiles west of the capital. Raikkonen cannot handle this much food anyways while the happy cap is so low. This city would also pay for itself almost immediately - 2 pop working sea +1 commerce from trade route should offset the overall maintenance increase + distance cost.

Let's wait and see what GP we get before making a concrete plan.

Also I probably won't get a chance to take the turn today.

Met nauf. He is above SD and a great target for our future berserkers.

We got to play out a double turn here which was nice. Cities are set to not grow rn and I am maximizing commerce. Monarchy should be in 12 turns or so. Library in the capital and some added growth may speed that up.

We've gotta start hurrying up on expansion before nauf/sd start sniping parts of the continent.

bottas won, verstappen had to retire early after contact with leclerc, who got penalised after the race. ricciardo had a pretty baller race tho, started 16th and got all the way to 7th. i'm treating that as a good omen smile

There are 18 hours on the clock so I'll wait for you to finalize the move.

Boy is it a big one.

First of all, bless Krill and Commodore for this boon. +2 Happy in our cities, so we're at 7 in general, 8 in the capital.

My-my-my-my meta hits me so hard makes me say oh my Krill
Thank you for blessing me with a mind to whip and two pre-chops
That's good when you know you're down
A super dope homeboy from RB-town
And I'm known as such
And this our silver, uh u can't touch

I told you homeboy (You can't touch this)
Yeah, that's how we whippin' and ya know (You can't touch this)
Look in my eyes, man (You can't touch this)
Yo, let me bust the funky snake picks (You can't touch this)

Amazing stuff really, almost as game-altering as the means by which we got that city in the first place. Our GNP should be good enough to crack out 3-4 more cities without breaking a sweat. However, we have some good/bad news, all in one image.

We got a great prophet, which we can either shrine or golden age. Shrine isn't a bad idea, but we may just benefit more from a religion switch + org rel + monarchy if possible. Plus, small map, shrine can only bring in so much cash moneys.

However, nauf/rusten have spotted our cities, albeit with only a workboat. I set Bottas to a trireme in case war is declared so that we can clear out any dumb attempts to block our fish with the workboat, and to prevent it from unwarranted scouting.

Frankly, I believe we need to start devoting a city or two to full aggression. Galleys/Triremes at 50% bonus (forge + lighthouse) plus a few swords may catch nauf off guard. However, it is not nauf/superdeath who worry me, it is Mr. Cairo and MSCC. One of them is running at 103 crop yield compared to our 68.

There is just an absolutely insane CY leader and we aren't really first in any single category (hopefully 1st in GNP isn't 1st in crops as well). Logically, based on the map design, they are to our west around the world wrap and are likely even closer to us than SD/Nauf. Given our isolated position, I fear other powers seeing us as a greater threat than their neighbors (ok, except perhaps ravenous superdeath).

Here's the dilemma.

1. Turtle. We could dev until CS/Machinery. We're probably 45-50 turns away from that. Rely on building a strong navy and skeleton land force. We'd probably go to CS using feudalism as well in order to secure our cities with longbows. The plan would be to just rapidly expand through the rest of the continent, pick up Monarchy (Perhaps go through the masonry route? IDK) -> IW -> Math->CoL->CS->Machinery. Once we have this massive base of a continent, go out and pillage everyone else.
Pros:
We're not sacrificing long-term dev, this IS about long-term dev.
We'd be economic powerhouse and very scary
Cons:
We'd be very scary and would be ganged up on using naval combat which I am total noob at. Also naval combat is generally scarier for the defender.

2. Semi-Aggro Teching machinery directly with just iron working. Gives us about 25 turns of repose. Happy middle.

3. Supplant Superdeath in terms of raw aggression. Monarchy -> IW, immediately build up raiding parties and attack unsuspecting opponents who are unlikely to have built up a naval sentry net as of yet.
Pros:
No one expects the viking swordsmen (everyone expects the berserkers)
If they're not dumping EP into us, we gucci
We can make everyone rage quit
Cons:
We can make everyone rage quit
If we don't make everyone rage quit, tehy're going to come at us with the naval equivalent of pitchforks. (Oars?)
Our economy won't love us.

Those are my thoughts, I'm not ending turn, come back and weigh in.
