Yeah, big ooof. It's such a big slap in the face when you've made a contingency plan for every other turn. Just the absolute worst...

Nothing to do but try to shrug it off. Opening is weaker, but I found a decent way to juggle food and take advantage of a mined plains hill to replace the fish. Sadly it is too late to even get a monument at this stage. Again, any other (earlier) turn and I could've simply chopped the monument. I'm better off waiting for Judaism holy city at this point. It should end up in Plankton (2nd city). On the bright side I don't have superdeath throwing axes in my face so I should focus on the positive.

But if someone beats me to Judaism (with me skipping AH, writing, sailing) then I will tilt off the face of the earth.

Turns out the one land tile I had not revealed is corn. 




This keeps getting better and better, but I need to rethink that dotmap slightly. Just waiting for the warrior to uncover the final few coastal tiles first. Maybe there's fish too -- this map has proven quite generous.

Scout has not found anybody yet, granted I did avoid going too deep north and circled back to scout possibly contested areas. I'm happy to continue living in isolation for now, and it makes the decision to rush granaries easier as there's no immediate danger of losing city spots to an enemy plant.

Granaries underway and 3rd city will be settled next turn. Meanwhile Eric Carmen is still playing his tune.




New city (Diatom) takes sheep on size 1 until Plankton completes granary. Workers chop the forests 1T above current location for a size 1 granary (you know how much I love those, naufragar!). It will overflow 10 of 11 possible food to size 2. Good enough. Work boat is on its way to Leviathan and will be in place by the time the city grows back to size 3.

Still sad about not having that fish tile.

I'm curious on your thoughts of trading 4 worker turns for 10h. Is it just because it fits nicely with the micro?

Another reason why that 15 hammer discount is so much more than it seems. It's the difference between needing two forests and three. (Man, I'm getting the itch to play with RtR India or Babylon myself.)
