I'll post some pictures once he logs in and takes his turn (hopefully accepting ceasefire), but the short of it is that I'm crammed up on a peninsula with not a lot of land (I figure there's some islands north that I can expand to). 2metra has been expanding towards me and cutting off any southern expansions, so an aggressive move here was necessary to give myself some more breathing room. In one of the other PBs I played in, I wasn't very aggressive and just relegated to my starting settling land, which I can't do again so anything that pulls my neighbor back will be beneficial. Lastly it was an easy move to make - with our cities so close together I could easily whip out 4 units and move them out of the fog next to his city with no chance to whip or reinforce, so I was essentially trading 35 hammers (ended up being 70) for his city which had a stele and granary (and I think he also blew 80 gold upgrading his warrior to an axe).
I have a settler out and another one on the way so it's not like expansion was totally sacrificed just for this move either.
