This map was made by a script with only some hand-tweaking to people's starting BFCs, right?

The map was rolled, and then I decided that all I needed to do was move 2metra for things to be generally spaced out ok. So I combined the Borsche/Rusten continents and added 2metra to it. I felt that made more sense than keep rolling, trying to hit the jackpot. I tried to balance the starts without rebuilding them completely to be identical. I added/subtracted features until I felt they were all in a close enough range. Then I went through each start, tried to estimate its natural land and its path to victory, and compared it to the average. If I felt it was below par I buffed it(eg. BaII had very little land originally, so I souped up his tundra with deer tiles and added some extra islands), if it was above par I nerfed it (eg. Adler's island was bigger).
I also generally tried to increase areas for neighbour interaction, but this sort of falls under the the nerf/buffing above. For example, OH's route to Pin is through a 1 tile land bridge, that originally didn't exist. Pin's spot had too much land though, while OH's didn't have enough. So by including the land bridge I could even up the land counts while increasing player interaction.
If I generally moved the starts in the right direction I'll be happy enough. I wasn't asked for a perfectly balanced map and it's an almost impossible goal without handcrafting something very symmetric anyway.

People want perfectly balanced asymetry, but I have yet to see a game provide that, outside of rock paper scissors.
I think part of what's getting GeneralKilCavalry so down is his leader. He sees he's behind in the demos, and it feels like the game's slipping away. ![alright alright](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/alright.gif) But he's Darius. Darius is a late-bloomer, full of hope and promise.
He mentioned that he's settled three cities that didn't have any tile better than 3 food, but that's kind of on him. If he moved Teotihuacan 1NW, it picks up the fish and lets the brozne city be founded 1NW too and work the cow (although copper would be second ring). He also could have founded for pigs before sheep+crab. It's certainly not a luxurious start, but a different leader and maybe a slightly different dotmap would make it feel better.
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

You know, fin is actually pretty close to being overpowered on this map. Snaky continents don't have much in the way of rivers and so fin works on most tiles, plus of course it has free stuff. It's working out better for OH than GKC, partly because he has more seafood and partly because he's imp/inca, so it starts incredibly fast, but it's very close to being base BtS fin + some free stuff.

I dunno - I think it would be justified for Commodore to snipe that city. Were I Gavagai, I doubt I would settle with a chariot sitting around.
One thing is that this is such a large game that losing a city that was just planted is annoying, but not game killing.

I think prior games have shown that Gavagai and Commodore have some history, so im doubtful that he risks all-out war over a city snipe. Commodore is more likely to just come back in 20t with a stack of keshiks.

Well, Borsche has now been involved in both early wars, one as an aggressor, one as a victim.
I'm not sure why he would plant a city with only a warrior to guard it at this point. Archery is really cheap in this mod and an archer (vs a warrior) would have almost certainly kept anyone from attacking like that.

Quote:Mhm well this is kinda of awkward now since I've deleted my axe by accident. Is it possible to edit in an axemen for me without to much hassle?
Thoughts?

Is that a serious request? No post in tech thread, no details, ending turn in game ...
