Well, as time goes by, I start to second guess myself.

I don't think we should attack it at this point. I think it's clearly where we start war, but there are some 10 spots left for us to settle without that and for all we know, pindicator is right there and he's already declared war on us. I think maybe we just need more mil overthere.

One thing is that DS has no idea that Collosus is right there, since he can't see the city, so that helps.

Expand, see what GP we get, then when we are out of space and have basic infra in place (ziggs, granary, lighthouses), we can decide to ramp up and attack.

pindicator asked for peace. I declined. I don't want to give him peace if we are in a settling war and I have triremes. Maybe he does, too, I dunno.

How is settling those eastern islands going btw?

It has occurred to me that we are at war with pindicator and I haven't been paying attention to the turn split. I don't think there's any harm, since we can't actually see each others units, but I'll ping him and see if it's been a problem for him.

Haven't settled any of them yet.    I have a trireme out which should protect us from pindicators galley.   Unless it's the vanguard of a bunch of galleys, but that seems a little unlikely.    I have a couple of settlers for a galley, though.

Turn 104

I guess that pindicator isn't rushing to settle that island - he took GKC's city.

I am guessing it got razed.

I have two settlers on a galley - I was going to try to settle east, but I think I'll fill out the north island and move to the other islands in the next run.

I switched research to math at the min.  We get a GP in 7 turns - I'd like to be able to pick up currency if we can.   We might have to shut down settler spamming and run some specialists to push tech.

I'll just comment on expansion and your thoughts on slowing it down. You have a better picture of the econ, but don't we have cheap courthouses? Is it that bad? Now is the time when players are contesting territory and afterwards expansion will require wars. And this combo was supposed to be good at exactly this: REX and faster recovery. So it seems to me that emphasizing expansion would be playing to our strenghts. I'd keep at least the hammer city Kish at settlers and capital or Colossus city (or both) could be good for Gp generation.

I have a fairly long post planned with screenies.

We have 13 cities, with 2 setttlers to plop down soon on the north island.

My worry was that we would completely crash the economy, but I don't think we will.

I do have some concerns about protecting eastern cities from pindicator, who razed a city, which is why I'm filling out the north island, which is protected. I'm sending galleys with units east, along with a trireme, to have defenses in place. I expect to settle those pretty soon.

I think we have 2 more spots on the mainland, 2 on the north island and several on the eastern islands.

So, what are we doing?

Below are high level shots of the empire, north and south.  I didn't stitch them together.

The mainland has 2 spots marked with colored squares
The north islands has 6 spots, marked with colored circles.

We have 2 settlers on a galley near the north island.  My current plan is to use those for red on the north island and green on the sheep island.  
Green needs a worker, which it will get from the north island.

The red square on the mainland is a high priority, because it's an excellent city - after that, I want to do yellow and purple circles, to fill out the north island and
get a foothold on that skinny island.  

Then, some combination of lightblue and one of the orange sites, followed by the other orange site (if possible) and the black square.  

The main problem is that I don't know where pindicator is or if this is just screwing with people or if he's trying to claim this area, so I don't know how much military we need to defend against him.

We have a trireme, which should get his galley to run away.

We get out GP in like 7 turns, btw.

I have 3 galleys, which will allow us to move settlers pretty efficiently, along the lines shown
Load settler off the cap and move galley1 2 along the black line
Next turn, move galley1 along the yellow and offload to galley2, which moves along the 2nd yellow line and then repeat next turn.

Move galleys back to pick up the next settler/worker pairs..

I also marked some tiles A and B, because those represent the only corridors where galleys can come at the core. the islands to the east are outside that zone, so probably need more defense than the paper thin farmers gambit. We have those units, we just have to get them there.
