Adventures of Nudist Link Victory
Link rushed to Goron City and the Abandoned North Mine with about a minute to spare with his 7 minute elixir. Then an unexpected problem arose. Our hero was still taking heavy fire damage at the Abandoned North Mine, which meant that he had to have some "Level 2" resistance from arcane ingredients to proceed with the Vah Rudania questline.
Before abandoning the Death Mountain region for good, Link used some of his spare Fireproof Elixirs and hunted for shrines. Shae Mo'sah was cleared with Fire Arrows, Daqa Koh had a jumping Stasis platform, and Qua Raym was another Magnesis scale balancing puzzle.
Link set out for Eventide Island in the Faron region to prove that he could beat a Shrine Quest without any gear. But this challenge didn't remove his Sheikah Slate, which he used to destroy Hinox with Remote Bombs and Magnesis blocks. One tablet needed to be removed with Stasis momentum, and Cryonis pillars took the final sphere to the goal in the water.
To prepare for the final battle at Hyrule Castle, Link purchased an Ancient Bladesaw, an Ancient Bow, and an Ancient Shield from Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. All those seemingly useless shrine treasure chests and Test of Strength scrap would now save him. On the way to Ganon's lair, he died 3 times to Guardian lasers and one poke from a Moblin spear in the Dining Hall.
FINAL DEATH COUNT: 28
Without saving most of the Divine Beasts, Link had to fight Waterblight, Fireblight, and Thunderblight Ganon in a boss rush before facing Calamity Ganon himself. These opponents were simple to kill apart from Thunderblight Ganon, who had to be blocked with a shield and later hit with a Magnesis lightning rod. Link took no chances with the Vah Nabooris boss and hacked away at the monster with the Master Sword. The Ancient Bow also helped with the Blights, and sometimes the Great Flameblade too.
Before Calamity Ganon appeared, Link had consumed +3 Defense food, +3 Lightning Resistance food, and a couple of temporary Heart Container meals. Revali zapped Calamity Ganon for 1/8 of his HP with the power of Vah Medoh. Link's Master Sword held out for the entire battle, and two +3 Attack meals shortened the fight considerably. Link took heavy damage from Calamity Ganon's attacks when they hit, particularly the quick laser shots when I learned the hard way that they couldn't be reflected.
The Ancient Shield paid off during the last phase of the battle, when Link reflected the charged lasers to break Calamity Ganon's shield without having to time a parry. He had to rely on his fast metabolism to digest all the healing food, but he still won.
Dark Beast Ganon was a comedy of errors. Since I had skipped the cutscene, Link rode around on GODIVA the horse for a while before I learned I actually had to pick up the Light Bow, and that it wasn't automatically given to Link in the cutscene. Ganon's breath attack hit him a couple of times, but he held on. Who needs armor when you've cleared 72 shrines and have a restaurant's supply of meals? It took several tries to convince Ganon to open his head to reveal the final weak spot that Link had to shoot from midair.
Naked Link isn't that much different from a normal playthrough, apart from the lack of Divine Beasts. Being able to carry 3 pages of food in your inventory is a significant asset to you, especially when eating is a free action. Shrines function the same way in every playthrough, and all the areas where temperature would be a problem are optional. It is funny to read all the dialogue when Link isn't wearing anything but his shorts, however!
"I wonder what that even looks like, a robot body with six or seven CatClaw daggers sticking out of it and nothing else, and zooming around at crazy agility speed."
