Agreed on TRIP, LOCK, for sure.  I can see possibility in any of ATLANTIS / PASS / SPOT.

It seems we're thinking along the same lines, which is reassuring! I saw that ATLANTIS had mythical/magical connotations, but didn't know if there was any actual link to Teleportation. If the TV show involves star gates as shallow thought says, that's good enough for me!

That's a good way to put it! I felt the same impulse, but didn't think about it rigourously.

I'm pretty happy with that! I would probably swap the order of LOCK and PASS, but that's about it. JR4, if you agree with this approach, I guess we can start pointing?

I am certain there was a show called Star Gate: Atlantis.  Or maybe Stargate: Atlantis.  Not sure if it was the only show about star gates, and probably a star gate was a wormhole - but realistically that is just teleportation with a different technobabble. The more I think about it the more confident I am.

Fine with your proposed shuffle of my proposed slate, agreed that we should give JR4 a chance to weigh in again before we point. Although with three of us strongly agreed on at least TRIP, it's tempting to get started mischief

Yeah, I like TRIP/PASS/LOCK in some order. ATLANTIS is very specific to the particular link - Teleportation => Wormhole => Stargate:Atlantis (that was indeed the title of the TV show), but it would explain why Teleportation - it's a very difficuly word to mix in otherwise.

I'm leading towards SPOT for the final guess because Teleportation machines in Star Trek sometimes had spots on which to stand, where the special effects formed a kind of spotlight.

Other options might inlcude TAG or even LIFE(signs) as ways to get the LOCK, but they don't feel as strong to me.

One other thing that has come to mind is Teleportation Fragging - a technique in games where you can kill an opponent by teleporting to their exact location - but I'm not seeing any words that fit that meaning.

I've also been looking for words that fit the literal meaning of Teleportation = "Far Travelling|Carrying", but that just leads back to TRIP - there are no "distance" words I can see.

Okay, there is a majority for LOCK, SPOT, PASS and TRIP. And then maybe ATLANTIS for the last guess. The ordering here is slightly tricky. After reading spoilers I think that LOCK has slightly more support than SPOT and PASS.

You SPIKE the BALL when you're playing volleyball (or football)
Kids play TAG at recess
In bridge, you might ask the dummy to play the KING
I play the game of LIFE with my kids every year on New Years Eve
Bored people in line play with their APPLE phones or watches
BEAR cubs are playful
Laurence OLIViEr was in a lot of plays

I like BALL, TAG, SPIKE in that order

Ball for certain

Tag, probably

Perhaps Day? I've heard of "play dates" but not sure about a "play day".
