With everyone having cast their votes (Fintourist and Ruff are abstaining), I propose the following consensus regarding settings (apart from map):

Mr Cairo and Commodore have expressed that they want minimal changes in order not to delay the game launch, so I assume that as long as changes can be implemented until we finish picks they are ok with what a majority voted for.

- Naval ---> leave as is
- civs ---> leave as is
- privateers ---> optics+engineering. the majority want something done about that, and I feel this is the most conservative of the proposed solutions (personally still think MilTrad would be interesting)
- crossbows ---> back to vanilla
- trebuchets ---> back to engineering.  that one's a tie,but Elkad  voted strongly, while I hope Mr Cairo and Commodore are ok with it if it doesn't delay things
- spies ---> leave as is
- picking method ---> snake.  several players strongly wanted a snake, so I think if there's enthusiasm for a random pick game it might be best to advertise it as such from the OP on so people sign up for that. random also doesn't seem to fit RefSteel's map

I hope I have interpreted the majority will well, but of course let's hear any objections. Now the big question is what Charriu says whether this is all feasible.  From my naive pov it's all easy XML, but of course I don't know how modding actually works and what can go wrong, particularly in conjunction with BUG

Also, is anybody opposed to playing on RefSteel 's map, which seems like a gift from heaven at this point?

Spies... leave as is?

I believe the spies vote was whether we allow them in game or not. ( cough please no )
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

That's all acceptable to me.  Hell, other than spies, it's what I wanted straight down the list.  (and noscore*, which I've given up mentioning here)

And RefSteels map sounds great.  Changed my vote on the sheet to reflect that.

*it's been a few years since I've even brought it up.  Got used for CFC games quite a bit.  You get 1 point for your palace, and 1 point for Futuretech1, nothing else.  No gleaning information from scoreboard changes at all.

Leave as is haa absolute majority. The vote was whether to allow certain missions, like tech steals. Afaik leave as is lets you build spies, but they're only invisible recon units and can only see the tile they're on. Espionage is only for graphs / city visibility

I'd have supported that.  Don't see why you should get intel on someone you haven't even met in game yet, and why reading the PBspy oracle should be a required civ skill. Maybe in another game.

The better to hide your dominance, of course.

Sure, and it'd be nice not to spend hours pouring over the scoreboard trying to get any tiny advantage.
