Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

[SPOILERS] Rusten enters uncharted waters

Hoping for a big picture/screenshot turn
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Looks like game over. TBW cancelled his open borders with me. I guess he's playing for second place. I'm not far enough ahead to defend against a 3-player dogpile.

I thought he'd want revenge on OH for what happened earlier in the game, but it seems he instead wants him to win.

Did you finish off DS or had to retreat immediatly?

No I had to retreat because of Commodore. DS is not very relevant, but if Commodore sends all his units my way then I can't hold. Right now I'm very close to stabilizing against OH, and I'm 600 mfg ahead, so if I can stop the bleed I should hold. Good on him for attacking before I could benefit from coal plants and railroads.

But when Commodore attacks me from the other side and possibly TBW as well then there's no chance. OH alone I could hold with some coastal casualties.

Which civics are you in atm? Do you still alternate, or are you in a fixed set now?

The civics that matter are nationhood, universal suffrage and theocracy.

I think if anything annoys me with this whole thing it's Commodore's role. I don't see how I can ever trust him in any future game. After eliminating superdeath and us becoming neighbours he mirrored back a mutual fish+iron and then went on to:
1) not lift a finger against Dark Savant, which I wouldn't be offended by on its own, but he then:
2) immediately backstabbed me afterwards at the first opportunity

Disingenuous trade offer which I will remember in the future. I will do my best to make sure he gains as little as possible from all this. He's even completely fucking me over by letting OH keep airships in his border cities near me, which makes battles on land and sea inifinitely harder. That goes for TBW too. And of course TBW closed borders with me which means I can't scout for shit.

The only way to survive being teamed up on like this was up and running coal plants and an overwhelming advantage, but I was not given the time. Well played to OH, middle finger to Commodore. I don't see how OH doesn't win at this point.

That sucks man, really no hope at all?

Short term things could stabilize, but long term there's no hope. My long-time friend and trading partner TBW chose OH over me for whatever reason and soon OH has AL as well which means my short-lived production advantage comes to an end. Gavagai declared war on Pindicator which means Commodore can keep a skeleton army out east and put everything on me. He's already sent his entire fleet. My friends have become enemies and they surround me at every turn. There's nothing I can really do about that.

I will start putting my energy into other matters, so it's possibly for the best. This whole game was a mistake (settings). I wish Krill hadn't gone out of his way to recruit people from every site and instead we'd have a 2nd game running simultaneously.

I don’t believe that Commodore is alone in being friends until it’s no longer to his advantage to be friendly, nor alone in considering resource treaties to be nothing more than statements of intent until something changes. About the only time you can count on allies is when you have a shared enemy, and often not even then.
