RP Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Darius I of the Holy Roman Empire

I was the last one ingame to end turn so I got the turn flip.

Did most although there is probably some stuff I missed., especially with galley movements

What I did was:

1. Switch carse's scientist to work the improved rice. Carse's workers should go on one mine (together) so that they will be ready to mine Carse's hill once its borders pop.

2. Loaded Great Merchant onto galley, so he can go across Centralia and onto our outer galley. If possible, I'd like India to not see this merchant so be wary of their horse archer nearby.

3. Switched a bit of tiles near Stardock to get rid of working a 2f 0h 0c tile.

4. Put the settler + missionary on top of the hill of our island city. If Dantski's citiy's borders dont pop next turn, just settle on the hill. If they do, settle 1E onto the tundra tile.

5. Worker from Ylith went onto deer to imrove next turn - worker that was on a road by ylith went onto one of Queg's forest for a chop-cottage combo, rather than finishing up the 1-turn cottage since Ylith takes 4 turns to grow to the next size anyway. Incidentally, the worker on Queg's plantation should probably road since we've only got one spice (this will be the second).

6. Switch Krondor to a grocer? For health?

7. Question: do we run an artist in Yabon to get the next border pop come very soon? I think we should although I didn't do this ingame. This is better than just building another culture building.

Note: We won 2 tiles from Dantski this turn.

Reminder: We should definitely switch to Economics at least by the end of the golden age - preferably in 2 turns although if so we have to be sure to switch out of Caste and Pacifism by the last turn of the Golden Age.

The big question for this turn is, do we switch to Free Market? We should do this if we're sure that we will use up a Great Merchant for another Golden Age. The reason is that if we switch to Free Market, we can't switch out of Caste/Pacifism before the golden age is up (= wasted turns).

BTW if we want to switch to FM now, we better do it ASAP, earlier we get the trade routes the better.

1. Founded Margrave's Port in the original spot. It will border pop in 2 turns. lol

2. Ran an artist instead of working a lake in Yabon - we now have 51% of the contested mine under our possession, yet we still don't have control of the tile. Perhaps next turn?

3. Hawk's Hollow working a cotage, since it still grows to size 2 next turn.

4. The requirements for Globe and Oxford are almost done. Stardock is finishing up a university THIS TURN with overflow into a theatre next turn so the Globe isn't too far off.

5. Turned up research to 100% for Printing Press.

6. Finished the pre-built road by Krondor - so now we have a much better road network. smile I think the worker closest to Hawks Hollow should road the farmed grassland on it so that we have a more direct path from HH to Crydee.

7. Switched Carse to the National Epic (this is debatable, though).

8. Do you think Ylith (which finishes its rathaus next turn) should build a workboat for Margrave's Port so Margrave's can build a lighthouse? Ylith can build it faster (~3 turns).

9. Hawk's Hollow doesn't need any more improved tiles in the short-term so how about the worker near Krondor/HH cottage a tile for Krondor? I marked the plains tile but really the grassland one would be fine too. I'd do the plains myself since it's away from Dantski's border and the Golden Age benefits plains more.

Things are looking good!
I agree on NE in Carse.
Where shall we put Oxford? Rolan seems the most logical choice...

Switched civics, so we need another 5t before we can switch again. GM done in 4t so another GA is coming!

Oxford = Rolan definitely. Even though it doesn't have the best long-term research potential of our cities, any other city will take ages to catch up.

PS: What do we plan on building in Queg and Hawk's Hollow next? Settler/worker and granary respectively? Another alternative for Queg is to build wealth (it's got plenty of production) so that it can help us get Printing Press with minimal gold loss.

I can end the turn if needed (none of us has ended it yet).

Granary in HH sounds best, with a Library afterwards.
Queg can build Worker - 2 LB - Settler I think

Perhaps it would be best for us to try and spread the AP religion as much as we can? Although that would really take up valuable production.

And it would require us to be in OR. Let's not bother with that yet.
What tech cancel's AP?

Finished our turn and started the next one.
Great Merchant is in Northwarden now and hopefully can get onto the Galley next turn.
Lot of worker actions, no interesting builds yet.
Krondor is gaining ground and Dantski has a worker in our border working on a plantation... lol

Crydee still needs more culture, so I think we should build a temple there.
We can't see Indian research anymore, so they put EP on us. Switched EP to them.

Nakor - I don't think we should put EP on India. We agreed not to put EP on each other. If THEY are putting it on us, then we can ask them why and put them in the tough spot.

Our EP ratio us/them: 372 / 473 - Remember this.

Note:

1. Yabon - keep the artist for 1 more turn. After that, put him on the mine we won back from Korea.

2. With the addition of the mine from Korea, I moved a mine from Yabon so Port Natal could work it while Yabon worked the mine just taken over. Why? Because Port Natal is three (now 2 due to the move I made) from finishing up our Oxford University requirement! Keep an eye out for these! smile Our Globe Theatre requirement is also pretty much done.
