CIV VI PBEM

Hi guys - sorry for late response ( HomeOffice work could be damn time consuming frown ).

I bought last month the latest package from Steam ( GS + other stuff ) so more or less I imagine that I have them all - but this may be wrong.

I'm quite a beginner in Civ6 so for that reason I'd rather let you choose any civ/map/preference/settings etc. - I'll just be happy to join and to get some experience!

Thanks alot for your patience!

I had intended to be a global lurker for the game, but Ioan, if you're brand new to Civ VI, you might want an experienced dedicated lurker by your elbow keeping you away from rookie mistakes. Would you be interested in having me on board?

Looks like everybody has all the current content, so we should be good to go. So far we have Pangaea map with standard settings across the board. Anybody else have an opinion on map settings?

Here are the list of civs again:
Norway (4)
Phoenicia (4)
Eleanore (France or England) (4)
Sweden (4)
Kongo (4)
Spain (4)
Georgia (4)
Canada (4)
Brazil (3)
Egypt (3)

Poland (2)
Ottoman (2)
France (2)

Macedonia (1)
Khmer (1)
Scotland (1)
Mali (1)

If we want 2 civs to choose from, then we can have a lurker divide all the 4s and 3s in to groups of 2. If we want 3 civs to choose from, a lurker will have to select 2 from the 1s. I personally don't want to see Macedonia as on of those, he is too good at war and I don't think there is anybody on that list that could counter him. Mali might be a good choice, as we are playing on a Pangaea map which nerfs his ability but don't know if there is any issue with the game starting him on land. I have no opinion on either Khmer or Scotland.

Is there a lurker willing to select and assign civs?

Since we've set this up to scrape the "bottom of the barrel" I'm good with just picking between two off the 4/3 list.

If we want "more choice" what about a variant on the PBEM 17 pick method? Everyone gets two civs off the 4/3 list and has the option to get one reroll out of everyone else's discards?
Sending units to their death since 2017.

Don't do what I did: PBEM 3 - Arabia , PBEM 6 - Australia This worked well enough: PBEM 10 - Aztecs Gamus Interruptus: PBEM 14 - Indonesia
Gathering Storm Meanderings: PBEM 15 - Gorgo You Say Pítati, I Say Potato: PBEM 17 - Nubia The Last of the Summer Wine: PBEM 18 - Eleanor/England
Rhymin' Simon: PBEM 20 - Indonesia (Team w/ China)

I really like this idea.

Perhaps we can move this thread to a separate forum?

I agree...get 2 civs for the bottom 10 and have the option to re-roll. I would add one caveat, that it is all done blind. Meaning, we request a new sub-forum and given our options in our individual threads to minimize influence on what others might choose (like Cornflakes pointed out after that fact in PBEM17 thread).

Edit: Requested new sub forum.

Well it looks like Maori won't make the cut (the could on Pangea). So the only difference between Woden and my lists is how to ban pillage-farming CSs.

Mapmaker/mapchecker can be Mr. Random.org too

My thought on the pillage-farming city states is if we ban all pillaging except for health, it is inevitable that someone will forget and pillage a mine, then we have to come up with some equal value punishment. If we leave it at no pillage-farming them, i.e. attack to take the city, then it seems easier to remember and pretty clear cut.

But, as usual, I am open to pretty much anything.

To keep this chugging along:

Is there a lurker who can roll civs?
Two each from this list
Norway (4)
Phoenicia (4)
Eleanore (France or England) (4)
Sweden (4)
Kongo (4)
Spain (4)
Georgia (4)
Canada (4)
Brazil (3)
Egypt (3)

Post them in the players threads and PM them to the players that have not started threads yet. We will have the option to request 1 re-roll.

Cornflakes, you are making the map, correct? Do you need anything else from us to get that process going? Pangaea map, small size, standard settings, 10 city states.

I can roll the civs. Rerolls should come out of the list of civs not claimed during the first round of picks, right? And I assume with a prohibition against getting back either of the civs you decided to reroll away from.
