CIV VI PBEM

Quote:As CMF pointed out this is a multi-month commitment - you're probably looking at 3-4 months of daily turns before the game starts to resolve towards a concession or victory.  Everyone suffers the occasional real life interruption that prevents a turn getting played on time, but there's also the expectation that the other players would be given reasonable notice of turn delays.

I'm part of a PBEM Civ4 game which roll since 2011. smile
Somehow I'd say that this is a commitment...

Quote:Ioan, does "except maybe Saturday" mean that you wouldn't be playing turns on Saturdays?

Saturday usually and sometime ( like this week-end ) on Sundays.
Apart from this I'm anyway 50% of the day logged in as I'm a software freelancer.

But I said before: I'm quite new to Civ6 so I let you guys to decide all setup and house-rules.

Ioan76, what is your ideal play window?

Have you guys established turn order and PYDT already?

No, we haven't done any of that yet as we've been waiting for Ioan76 to respond.

Speaking of which, we need to come to a determination if Ioan76 or Kaiser will be taking the 5th spot. Given that Ioan76 appears to have confirmed that he wouldn't be playing on Saturdays and some Sundays I have to ask if it would be better for Kaiser to be the player and for Ioan76 to dedlurk him rather than the other way around. The entirety of the communication (or lack thereof) to this point has me a bit concerned.
Sending units to their death since 2017.

Don't do what I did: PBEM 3 - Arabia , PBEM 6 - Australia This worked well enough: PBEM 10 - Aztecs Gamus Interruptus: PBEM 14 - Indonesia
Gathering Storm Meanderings: PBEM 15 - Gorgo You Say Pítati, I Say Potato: PBEM 17 - Nubia The Last of the Summer Wine: PBEM 18 - Eleanor/England
Rhymin' Simon: PBEM 20 - Indonesia (Team w/ China)

Let's go with Kaiser. It looks like Ioan76 has been to RB since I posted, asking for his play window for the second time with no response and I want to get this set up so we can start when the map is ready.

You still in Kaiser?

Draft play order:
TheArchduke
Kaiser
Icabod
Suboptimal
Woden

Can we get a lurker to roll player 1? Has everyone selected a civilization?

Random.org generated a 3 so
Icabod is first

To give you a status on the map, I found one that would work decently well (comparable balance to previous PBEM). I had to move most of the starts to end up with something resembling equivalent land split but didn't change much else. I don't know if they fiddled with the Pangaea script but I was horrified to see that half of the maps could be better described as Continents-with-a-narrow-landbridge  bang Literally a 1-4 tile wide bridge between blobs. It took a significantly larger number of re-rolls than past experience suggested and after moving the starts I didn't have time to check the strategic resource distribution. My Tuesday/Wednesday evenings are booked every week so I'll need until Thursday or Friday to finish.

EDIT: or maybe it was me fiddling with the map scrips back in the day and I shot myself in the foot lol who knows, that was too long ago to remember which scripts I touched and which I didn't and this didn't occur to me until now.

I am still in and Ioan and me shared the pick, so from my side we can launch whenever the map is ready.

@Ioan
You are welcome to dedlurk me, please write me in which timezone you live so we can see if we can set up a good arrangement.

And since everyone's made a selection, the players and civs are:

Ichabod - BRAZIL
Suboptimal - ENGLAND (ELEANORE)
Woden - PHOENICIA
TheArchduke - CANADA
Kaiser - EGYPT

(Archduke was monstrously unlucky - first round civ roll was Norway and Georgia, second round Sweden and Canada)
