Civ AI Survivor: Season Five

(May 24th, 2020, 22:45)Fluffball Wrote: Sitting Bull's chances at a victory are bad, but his opportunity is pretty clear cut. Someone with a low peace weight will declare on him super early, get smashed by his godly archers, and then he counter attacks with his large build unit preference to an early lead.

Sitting Bull can't capitalize on any economic advantage though. 0/10 wonder preference along with no real religion focus combined with philosophical is extremely counter intuitive. Yes, wonders may not be the best way to go in this case, but being philosophical offsets the negatives here. The 10/10 tribute demands will make early leads become irrelevant due to dogpiles. Finally, espionage investment will drag him down.

I think monty has a better chance of winning than sitting bull does. I've never seen SB do well, but monty could snowball into victory on occasion.

Also, has there been a comparison of the AI's ImprovementWeightModifier? Maybe Stalin's success is in part to a lesser focus on farms/windmills? Is TOWN focus dragging down darius and victoria? Looking at the importance of the weight modifier would be interesting after this season. They are correlated with the economic vs production vs growth focuses, but one could do meaningful analysis on say, having a windmill and town focus or just a town focus.

Do AIs demand tribute from each other when they know the other AI will refuse? I thought they didn’t?

He's a pretty awful AI; obviously arguably the worst in the entire game. I actually have (!) seen him thrive in several single player games though. I mean if you get enough land, the AIs are similar enough that they can't be stopped. Even Ghandi gets some beatdowns in every now and then.
I actually see SB winning before Monty, just because SB is self-destructive via inaction, where as Monty actively sabotages himself at every opportunity, as well as some opportunities that didn't even exist until Monty created an opportunity to sabotage himself. Sometimes having a bunch of land and just sitting on it can get you victory, like Caesar's weird pacifism performance last season.
Picture 5 opponents deadlocked while SB has 2 AIs worth of land. He's almost certainly going to win that unless something changes. Picture Monty in the same situation, and... scared

This is the perfect time for people to be able to watch in the middle of a work day. I almost never get to see these. I'm looking forward to it!

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

By my reckoning I'll miss the first hour or so. With the coronavirus effing up train timetables, I won't be home til past 6:30pm GMT.

Middle of the night for me, but I guess you can't please everyone. I'll watch the recording the next day.

Next game is sure to be a fun one. Sitting bull, Troll kon, and cathy all in one.
