( Spoilers ) The Holy Grail of Threads

(June 5th, 2020, 16:52)Old Harry Wrote: Just doing another micro run and there are some things we need to think about.

Assuming we trade Maths by t81 Currency should finish by t86. We've got very little for our worker army to do at that point, so I think perhaps we should save cash on Iron Working instead of Aesthetics, then finish that after Currency so they can chop some jungle. Although Calendar for an extra happy from sugar would be great for our cities. And Construction to stop Gav coming calling/kill Gav with.

The Mids could be done t97 if we ignored everything else, but that hurts B so something like t105 is more reasonable. You could casually mention to other players that you're planning to finish it around t95 to discourage them from starting it or encourage them to finish it earlier to get the failgold earlier...

Finally what do we want the first great person for and when do we want them? We can get a scientist around t92 but I'm not sure there's a rush is there? Will we have any civics to change at that point?

Hmm.. Calendar-IW ( or vice versa? ) Aesthetics, RUSH SoZ or some other key wonder along these lines, maybe go for the music artist for a GA, and use our scientist for an academy or do we have a good bulb target?

I think if we can focus somewhat on the mids, but not at the expense of everything that would be great. Failgold is good, but getting into REP for our cities would be better.

When to fit in construction.. Probably after IW if we wanted Elephants to counter everything? Or do we want to "risk it for the biscuit?" and save it for after the music run or something.

Or... we go all in on getting religion and monarchy asap and solve our happiness problems with a huge standing army? Did TBW grab Buddhism yet?

Edit: Yes he did, so we'd need to go for Monotheism then Monarchy. I need to have a look at how many beakers that'll be.
Reply

It's 300 beakers for Poly-Mono, then 500 for monarchy vs 700 for currency (2 prereqs) so currency is a bit cheaper. From the sandbox I reckon currency nets us about 10-15 gpt off the bat. Five more pop in our cities *should* be able to beat that, but costs a turn of anarchy or we wait for a golden age.

Mega update because i felt like it:

Thats right. We likely wont get the mids due to Raskol probably running an engineer.. but even if we dont get it, the fail gold will be nice.

The micro is looking good.

In foreign news we're up Myst, HBR and Masonry and down Maths to Gav - he could be working on Currency or Calendar right now to try to catch up economically, or Construction for fighty purposes. Vs GKC we're up HBR, Alphabet and Archery and down Poly, IW and Maths. So he should be going for something similar. My guess is that Gav is going for Construction to be ready for our/his attack at t90 and will then trade it to GKC after t100.

Economically we have four sugar. When calendar arrives we should be able to trade that into a couple of extra happy (given enough worker labour) within 4 turns and three or four happy once Iron Working lets us connect the last two. Do you know which other players have which calendar/monarchy happy resources and thus with whom should we try to line up resource trades?

Raskol converted to Judaism. So our religious path just got a bit harder...

Other stuff-

Galley will move  NW-NW and pick up the worker the following turn and then wait near the fish for the borders to pop.  A chariot + Q is on the island already, the chariot will probably be ferried back to the mainland if there arent any barbs on this island. ( or any other islands to look at )
I really hope Gav doesnt try and ninja-steal that forest once his borders pop... 10t till our NAP is finished, and he hasnt really gained any power recently. HMMMMM

Rome has jumped upto 8 cities! Seems this one is one of our borders cities with him. I suspect the next one will be either 1E of the corn, or where the Axe t76 sign is.

Overall, i like our chances in this pitboss. Gavagai is going to be a tough nut to crack, but i think we have Cairo's support if Rome decided to attack us, and Rome has to give us a good NAP to guard against us smashing his flank if he went after Cairo. Still wish we had Raskol instead of Gavagai though.
