Yeah great lizard might be better TBH, I did it to get omniscient to hit +3 but i argue maybe 6 books is better for the guaranteed survival instinct. Do you have any suggestions for optimization?

I would replace 5 nature with 2 nature 1 chaos 2 life. That way i would have access to warp creature and buffs like holy armour. I already had a few chances to make undead chaos spawns but i could not do it because no warp creature. Yea i would have no late game except for heroes but i am pretty sure i am gonna find a few books that will give me some very rare spells. Also if i needed a late game i could hunt hydras and behemoths and turn them undead so reallly 1-2 books in every realm is not a problem for the late game
yes it seems to be smoother with the life books and chaos book helps with the omniscience too. Thanks for the suggestion! Which pick do you choose life just cause? Guardian spirit also seems decent but node dependent.
I've decided to play a Myrran game this time. I'll try Lunatic. Anything recommended? Draconians are best I guess?

I didn't really have any immediate targets for treasure hunting though. The places in purple territory are not scouted and I don't even think there was anything easy there. Blue territory is off limits while we have the wizard's pact. I can continue hunting on Arcanus but only after the lizard tower goes down. But it's in a super remote location and I have no cities nearby so sending troops will be very slow.
I also don't have access to move 5, invisible or teleporting units, nor web, so harder lairs with flying creatures aren't possible yet. My heroes can't possibly fight anything better than a gargoyle or night stalker either. I could have avoided the war but I had the perfect counters to ghouls and it can get some exp for my heroes. I guess the next thing to do is to spend spearmen into any possible target lairs and nodes to see the exact contents. But I can't go into blue territory and purple had much fewer lairs I think. I don't think I can tribute much spells to blue for an alliance either, she doesn't want to trade, also my military is horrible and they are ruthless so it has... kinda poor chances of succeeding even if I had spells. But I do have an edge in combat potential, troll halberdiers are coming, I have 2 heroes that are invincible until someone gets Reaper Slash, gargoyles are strong in an "everyone uses ghouls" world too. Except...purple has Life books and Exorcise kills undead trolls. And blue is not an enemy. So other than Yellow or going to Arcanus I don't see much good options. That said I might find some after looking at the map when I start part 2.

Going to take a break as it looks like it's going to be a long and tedious stalemate with no good very rare spells that win the game. Can't delay the release of the new version for something like that... |
