You're right. The shock mace beats the axe pretty easily.

I opened the turn up to a peace offer from nane. Sure enough he moved off the hill:
I sent back a peace offer. (Once at the beginning of my turn. Perhaps again in the middle. Then again at the end. I was overexcited, and I worry I annoyed the guy. )
But now I can fight a whole new opponent.
I've got the power for it:
Want to guess who number 1 power is?
I'm in a rough spot. I need to find out if I can body SV. I'm running out of stuff to do besides roleplay Montezuma apparently.

We have peace with nane. If he were terribly tricky, he could move a settler to the contested hill and demand a coinflip from the referee. I doubt he'll do this.
Now that we have peace, I can move to the next crisis I've caused myself:
The Aztecs would be dominated by the military-industrial complex, if they had any industry.
Suite (Spi/Pro), who I've come to think is very good, has more cities than Ziankali (Exp/Imp). Ziankali has transitioned from peaceful expansion and will hit someone soon:
I haven't been doing any C&D, so I don't know what techs he has. If he wants to dance with me, I'm game. But it'd be nice if he waited until my army is back from the East.

I miscalculated the timer and thought I wouldn't have time to wait until morning local time to play. So I played in the previous evening which means I had to take first slot and let SV whip defenders. Couldn't have played any earlier?
He's whipped twice, so I expect the hill city in the north to be decently defended. I loaded up the old PB73 map and this entire eastern area seems considerably changed. I don't know how easy it will be for SV to reinforce. He seems like a diplomat. He's giving away resources to nane and Holland, and he offered me a luxury trade that I don't think would have benefited him. Breaks my heart to attack him, but there are no brakes on the Aztec bloodlust machine, unfortunately.
Ziankali swapped to Hereditary Rule on the turn I finished Writing. Civ vets can work out for themselves how far behind I am.

Why again are you going for war against Greece, besides needing sacrifices so the sun keeps rising?
I was with you on Carthage, but should you not rather settle and secure that land now?

The only other food resource that I can see in the East is that deer. Settling other cities would mean just slowly growing on river cottages, which I plan to do, but that deer tile is far and away the best option, and SV is Cre, so he's got to be removed. (There is a clam in the Southeast, but Suite will grab that with his culture shortly.)
An additional reason is that I've got an absolutely gigantic military (#3 in the world) and pushing people back from this section of the map is one way it can make itself useful. Btw, I don't yet have graphs on SV, so he could be the #2, but that would be surprising.
Last turn when SV offered me the luxury trade, I really did think for a very long time about not attacking him. Unfortunately for us both, my land is too bad for me to sit back peacefully. Now that I've caught a glimpse of his northern city, the plan is to burn the little one and settle on the deer and sue for peace. I've whipped a settler this turn, and if memory serves it can found for the deer in 4 turns.
(Note my rock solid 0gpt at zero science. Make of this observation what you will.)

Well, let me congratulate you on truly remarkable Montezuma-RPG.
Bearing that in mind it seems kind of strange to sue for peace once you have razed one city just to able to found a new one there yourself. Seems like a rather small gain in return for creating that army of yours, if you ask me...
We readers sure won't complain, as the entertainment factor is really high. Keep it up! I am truly curious about what will come to your mind next in this game, as it seems awfully hard to predict

AI Monty has got nothing on you. At least he goes into a war prep phase before attacking again. And your economy is worse.

The second sentence explains the first. Also, welcome back!
I will point out that Miguelito thinks I should expand peacefully and Papa Bear thinks I should conquer more than one city. I am in the middle of these two viewpoints. Therefore, I am a moderate.
