[SPOILER] Close to Win

Hmm. Settling the southern hill is actually fairly polite? Cedes you two floodplains (at the rough approximation that 2nd ring beats 3rd), takes one, leaves one contested by green dot and one by purple dot (which he may not be aware will soon exist).

I think the geography works in your favour here. The natural hill plants get you a slightly large share of the rich valley, while leaving him enough he may just grumble about the map-mapker rather than taking it as an affront ...

But yeah, some long term border tension regardless.
It may have looked easy, but that is because it was done correctly - Brian Moore

I do think so too. Yes there will be long term border tension between us, but there would have border tensions anyway. Mjmd is the only neighbor with whom I share a large land border. In the east I only share two isthmuses and a inner sea with Jowy and in the north there is jungle and mountain ranges towards AT.

Good that this war did not escalate further and you got the lush area! You need to improve crop asap though, those unit builds are dragging you behind there.

Well the war is not done right now. We both still need to accept a peace treaty, but yes the unit builds threw me off. Crop yield isn't actually that bad right now. I'm even in crop with Mjmd and AT. Only Jowy is far off from all of us. But with this side of the border secured I'm feeling much better. Now there will still be some tension about the tundra region south of purple, but I doubt Mjmd will expand there soon.

After purple the next goal will most likely be to settle the rose spot as I already mentioned and with a 10 turn peace treaty try to conquer that barb city N of Berserk Halfing. After that it's down south to the yellow spot. I need a city on the southern sea to settle that island.

Turn started with a peace offer by AT. I accepted, but was it really necessary to kill my scout, AT? Way to start a good neighborhood.

Of course there was not peace treaty from AT. Instead he moved his units back in, but this time to purple, which now is called FlyingBarbarian. I immediately moved my axeman and 2 archers in (one of them has CG I, Guerilla I and Drill I). This should keep him from doing anything stupid and hopefully he will accept the peace offer I send him.
Also it turned out that the timing couldn't be any better as there is another settler of Mjmds to the west of FlyingBarbarian. Oh boy. I started a Dun and worked the Plain Hill Forest, because I do expect that FlyingBarbarian needs culture soon. I also want my borders to pop rather sooner then later on my border with Mjmd. He also settled the northern desert hill, which will put some culture pressure onto ExploringFauns. I will have to focus some culture buildings there in the future or even better raze his city at some point. ExploringFauns will pop borders in 4 turns by the way.
I'm really curious to see what Mjmd will do with that settler there. I doubt he will settle in place or even 1S as both will only have 1 floodplain for a food tile and don't connect any new resources from him. And of course all the places he can settle west of FlyingBarbarian are on flatland. The next hill he could settle is way down south in the tundra and does he really want to go for that now? I could see him settle a spot N of the furs to connect those.

Mjmd rejected my peace offer and instead chose to increase the annoyance level.  troll  What is this city? It does not connect any new resources, it only has the one floodplains tile as food and it only has one hill for hammers. He even didn't rename the city. If Mjmds other neighbor could please invade Mjmd in the following turns. His whole army must be focused on my side. Well at least I now know why I went with Dun first and working the hammer tile.

I also got trade connections with AT. Now I'm slightly worried how this trade route was established. I only have that city on the inner sea. How in the world is this trade connection possible? Interestingly he does not have connected copper or horses by now. Hey Mjmd send your axes north, there they can accomplish something.

I almost forgot to mention this, but I got another Judaism spread. This time to DiplomatKobolds. Awesome.

The new city looks like watching a Deity AI playing. In contrast to chess this is a good sign for you. wink

I doubt that. The AI is always looking for more resources and would most likely have settled 1SW of his city for the furs.
But you are right that this is good for me. I have the better defensive position. Now I just need to keep the upper hand in culture and strike with some better units.

Hey man, if you are so afraid of an attack in your new city that you have the need to secure the border tiles with a spearman, then just accept the peace offer I send you again. Heysexy And one of my barbarian mercenaries killed Mjmds scout south of Dehli. Great job buddy.

Nothing else too interesting happened this turn. BerserkHalfling will pop borders next turn and ExploringFauns the turn after, which will not only give me more security up there, but also vision on the hill city of his. I've prepared a tentative plan to build the Hanging Gardens, but this could very well change depending on the game.
