I would strongly advice to do a quick test run, because you chose some settings that are rarely played.

Same. Can we just generate an all random pitboss with advanced start on and this mod active? Throw 5-6 civs in there, and just claim them with no password, and we can mess with it for a couple days and see what happens. That'll give Superdeath time to work on the map.

I'm pretty sure Ramk can set this up. You should also get your own subforum.

Sent Ramk a PM. I asked for a 500 point budget for the test just because that's around the default for 6 player/Small, but I would encourage you all to try out Advanced Start and voice any opinions you have on whether we should lower that number or not for the actual game. I'm going to mess with it a little later and see how it works a bit more in-depth, but on first glance, I'm pretty convinced it should not be any higher than 500, and a tiny bit lower might be worth considering.

Are we going to see our starting areas before we pick our civs? I think we should, since starting techs and resources will matter a lot. It would mean waiting until the map is entirely finished before we can even pick, since in the Advanced Start there's a lot more than a BFC visible at the beginning.

I'd prefer to wait until we see our starting areas to lock in picks, yeah. It depends some on our pick method. If we go the "pick from a set of random choices" method, there's no reason we couldn't get that early and think about it and wait until the map is complete to lock things in. If we're snake picking, there's more of a delay, but I don't mind.

I would prefer picking from a random set, waiting for the map to make the final decision but getting the sets rolled once player roster is locked and advanced start budget finalized.

I was hopeful that i could make just the starting screenshot for each person, then in thread they decide their leader/civ and if they wanna spend points to unlock more of the land.
I say this, because im not quite sure how to do all the funky map changing stuff AFTER the map has already been made. TLDR: Id love to be able to just roll the map with everyone's selections, and then worldbuilder to balance/ect. Rather than the other way around if i can avoid it. . . But with this back issue, ill probably have a bit of time to work the map
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. ![[Image: noidea.gif]](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/noidea.gif) In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

IMO it’s much easier/better to start with the map and then take starting screenshots from that, rather than creating the starts and then trying to mold the map to fit. The Civ/leader edits are actually very easy ... just roll a random map with the final Civ picks, copy a block of lines with player data using Notepad++ (or text editor of your preference), and replacing the player data in your map file.
Balance similar to PB49 is fine with me, doesn’t have to be identical or mirrored.
