Pitboss 53 Tech Thread

(July 6th, 2020, 19:40)Cornflakes Wrote: IMO it’s much easier/better to start with the map and then take starting screenshots from that, rather than creating the starts and then trying to mold the map to fit. The Civ/leader edits are actually very easy ... just roll a random map with the final Civ picks, copy a block of lines with player data using Notepad++ (or text editor of your preference), and replacing the player data in your map file.

Balance similar to PB49 is fine with me, doesn’t have to be identical or mirrored.

Ill certainly try.

6 player, pb49 sized/balanced map..

If im missing anything else let me know.

Hmm.. from what ive seen while building a map with Advanced start already tick'd.. That it would be better/easier to just build the map and add your requests after the fact rather than having to delete Ai crap.. Advanced start is Wack.

Do you need to have it already 'on' when you build the map?

Start with a normal game, no advanced start. Then when ready, save the map as a Worldbuilder save and load it as a custom scenario where the game options can be changed ... and if advanced start actually works, then you wouldn’t have to do anything at all beyond a normal map.

Are there any set rules that i CANT do with the map? There are some cheeky/fun things i want to add that i havent seen on a map in the last... 10 plus pb's.

Also, making a mapmaker thread to ask further questions..

I thought this was how it worked, but I just tested this, and it didn't work for me. I started a new game as custom scenario, picked a WBSave I have, and ticked Advanced Start, and it just skipped that part. We may have to have a pretty lightly edited map to make this work? Not quite sure.

For the love of all that is holy, no barbarian subs.

Speaking of, barbs and events? I'm fine leaving them off, though I'd lean barbs off and events on if pressed for a decision since the most broken events are off in this mod.

Figure i get most of the map setup, send screenshots ( WHICH COULD BE DONE BY TONIGHT! ) to your threads, and then edit in everyone's advanced start choices/ect before sending it to ramk? unless im missing a step somewhere.

So no barb SUBS.

Barb DOMS are ok tho?

Getting the De-Facto settings/limits on my map choices is where id like to begin. Rolled some fun Pb49 style maps so far..
