[NO PLAYERS] Squaring the Circle of Sevens (For Nine) - Map and Lurker Thread

Yeah, several players are quite unhappy about this, so it needs to be addressed. Proposed message to post in his thread:

Quote:Hey Ruff. A few players have remarked about you frequently logging in and/or occasionally making moves outside of your half of a turn split. Can you try to be a bit more cautious about that? It's usually best to limit logins outside of your half of the turn split just to avoid the appearance of a possible double move, even if no such thing has happened. I think it's probably ok to do so occasionally if you're looking at the aftermath of a particularly important turn or looking something up, but it's best to limit it to your half as much as possible.

Seem ok?

Thats the nicest way of saying it yes.

Ok, people who know more than I do. What do we think about that Commodore attack across a river into a city with walls and cultural defense? Even if he had succeeded, it seems like it would have been a Pyrrhic victory.

I don't know if I know more than you do, but it seems like it was a really bad call to me. Using samurai and HAs to attack across a river into a walled city with crossbows while you don't have any collateral of your own just seems like a no-win situation, it's not a choice I would have made even if my economy was as blown out as Commodore's.

I think he really outsmarted himself majorly. I read it as he was trying to be clever in the turns leading up to this by trying to bait him into taking a fight on flat ground. I sort of get it, but Cornflakes is a good enough player that you have to assume competence. I'm overall mostly confused because he played that whole thing like his position in the game is desperate. It's definitely not.

Seems ok.

I mean, I dunno how good the odds actually were, but I think he's right that if he had burned the city, it would likely have meant game over for cornflakes, at least eventually. And it's not like commodore needs the units. He came close, which means it was probably about a 50/50 shot. So it turned out to be expensive - it does free up a LOT in expenses, which has been presumably killing Commodore.

I dunno that I would have done it , but then, he's a better player than I am

It's better to grow your econ into your existing large army than to throw away your army so that your econ can grow.

Well there's one good case of burning an army. If it mainly consist of old trash.

Was going to say the same thing  lol plus as long as your doing damage and aren't in danger from other sources.

Definitely not the case with Commodores army.
