They're doing a PB over at badgame and I wanted to have a spoiler thread here as well. Not sure if it's the right place to put it but whatever.
Here's my start:
RtR 5.0.0.1
Settings:
- Monarch(?)
- Tech Trading(?)
- Huts/Events Off
- Vassal States Off
- Players start with all 6 starting techs
- Players start with 2 Settlers, 1 Worker, 2 Archers and 2 Scouts
Leader: San Martin - Cre/Cha
Civ: Maya
My immediate thoughts about the start were "wow that's a lot of food that I don't have a happy cap for." My pick (I got options to pick from)
was based pretty much entirely around this constraint. Expansive is useless, since having a starting worker means I can go two work boats first and settle to share clams/wheat/rice. The second city would slow build a worker. I want to grow my cities big fast, use slavery to the max, and just out-4X the competition, while staying away from aggressive rushes and using holkans defensively. Haven't played CRE in a pitboss before, so decided this would be a good chance before an RB pitboss.

It's always amazing to see other communities play our mods. Can link us to the rest of the PB. And yes that's a hell of a lot of resources. Lovely start for a OCC.

Don't think so, it's a sort-of-closed forum, boak invited me there after pb45. But I'll keep all of you updated.

Well shoot... im Bad at Games, i could totally use a invite to this BadGames forum if they were wanting more players....
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

I am 99% sure you dont need slavery for capitol and if proper set not even for second city. Slavery is not always the right answer.here i would picked washington , get another worker, get granary and grow directly to 7 and after get another setler.
I realy belive getting 2 workboats is weak, one for fish is worth the other no way. Were is novice to explain this better?

expansive doesn't make granary cheaper in RTR.
Perhaps the two work boat start is weak - but working the lake fish is too good of a tile to pass up.

Going to explore in all 4 directions as best as possible. Rice connecting first, next worker will go to wheat, then corn.
Capital build path: WB -> Size 2 build worker -> granary -> worker
Second city build path: start immediately on worker -> get a warrior -> granary -> settler
Tech path: Pottery -> AH -> BW -> archery
