I think i might have gone for Fantasy 3 and take the Blue loss of LOCH NESS. ( Unicorn, Novel, Fighter )

and then probably Pirate 2, ( Saloon, Parrot )

So you were trying to connect Mustard + Lemon + Saloon with Sushi.  "Dinner 3" might have gotten there, let us hit neutral Pea, and probably would have had a better chance of getting to Saloon than Sushi with all those other possible connections.

Then HOMEBIRD 3 went exactly as planned and you worked it out perfectly but then didn't point to FENCE. Actually I'm still not sure, what were your reservations especially since you said it was the only possibility?

We did point to Fence, we just didn't get to it after other misses.

I don't think it does.  We've seen people run afoul of that before, you can't assume a connection to a word part like that.  It can be done, but not on such a tangled board.

I did catch on that Twopenny was against Casino and Shoe, but nobody figured out that you were trying to use it to clue against everything on the board!  Nice gamble though, I appreciate the attempt.

So this was the method to the madness, but unfortunately the vagueness didn't make it an enjoyable game for you.

Don't worry, it happens.  Codenames can be at its most entertaining when it goes horribly wrong.
