Fun fact: when I was writing up the post, I originally worded it as "a weird mix of pissed and amazement" and decided to dial it down. Should have trusted my gut!
More seriously, I'd like to know how he's done this without being IMP. The Granary bonus is a big deal, so surely that's some of it, and like I said, the barbarian city was a nice bit of luck that he was positioned to take advantage of. I probably could have gone a bit faster on the city front too had I really pushed hard, and maybe I should have pushed harder. So all these things add up... But still, effectively 11 cities if we count the two he lost? What has he sacrificed for this? These are the questions burning on my mind right now.

I agree! I said a page or so ago it's probably the best leader for this map, and I probably would have taken it over Wang Kon had it been available to me. This is why I'm not really on the nerf FIN further train.
To be fair though, Commodore took Expansive, and he's yet to surpass me in expansion pace - probably due to commerce constraints. TBS is just ridiculously good at the game, and PRO has been super valuable here.

I made a huge mistake earlier. I posted that PBSpy log before TBS completed his turn. Here's the full log.
Quote:08/03/2020 10:38:40 48 TBS logged out
08/03/2020 10:31:03 48 TBS finished turn
08/03/2020 10:26:49 48 TBS score decreased to 308 (-7)
08/03/2020 10:22:56 48 TBS score increased to 315 (+7)
08/03/2020 10:12:57 48 TBS logged in
08/03/2020 10:12:27 48 TBS logged out

Another one. I'm numb. City counts:

scooter: 8
Commodore: 7
Cornflakes: 6
Mr Cairo: 5

I can only hope he's losing gold at 0% tech. He actually might be, now that I say that jokingly. Rival worst GNP was 14 in my screenshot from this morning. That might be him? I'm not sure who else it could be. If so, +2 cities on top of a 14 GNP is... pricy. My 8th city was a net negative, and my next two are projected to be serious net drains pre-Currency.
To be clear, I'm "ahead" of him in this game as of right now - particularly if I manage the Currency play. I'm definitely aware of that. My concern is that I also know he's a better player than I am, and I was hoping the huge setback would have slowed him more than this. He's greatly reduced the gap he needs to close to win. The fact that he's got so much of the center uncontested from his immediate neighbors is a huge concern too, because all this land puts a very high ceiling on his empire.

I realized I could verify this by just logging in. Since that screenshot, he was the only person to have played.
Ok, that's confirmation. His GNP is 9, so he probably is pretty close to 0bpt break-even or even outright losing money, depending on how much culture he has. Makes me feel like... 15% better.

9 is nothing. Real civ players crash their economies into negative double digit GNP

Believe this is still the RB MP game record.

Is this a challenge?

It's a challenge to beat it and still survive to the end of the game. We finished 6th in that game, thank you very much.

Damn. Too specific.
