RP Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Darius I of the Holy Roman Empire

India is drafting like crazy.
We need to switch into Nationhood in 5t (hopefully Rifling will be in) and start drafting as well.

I'll take a look at the new turn and do the t200 update.

What went wrong with the numbers?

Anyway... there we go. A lot of pictures.
Question for the lurkers: What cityscreen is missing down below?

First things first, all actions done.
I did cash in the GM in Endor. Took a good look at the situation and it would have taken us about 4 turns to get him back on the island. That way we wouldn't be able to complete Rifling in 5t and switch to NH. With the 1300gc in, we should be able to tech in a straight line towards rifling without a pause. Then we can switch to NH and start drafting like crazy. I do wonder who India is going for. Might be Dantski... Athlete... or us...

We did get back our view on Indian research (mailed with Sullla about that) and we put our EP back on Dantski.

While India is drafting, here is our miltary advisor:

Demographics at 100% and 0% science:

And the lay of our land. First our Centralia part (you see the two markers for possible cities, Loriel being founded once we've build a settler in Ironpass)

Then our part of the main land, north and south. There are 2 city markers near Dantski. Should we take him out, we can fill these spots. Also note the culture battle we're finally winning. We almost lost that cow once.

And our southern island with powerhouse Queg.

And here are our cities (one is missing):

Answer: Yabon.

It does make me want to ask: "Why Yabon?"

Are they hiding an embarassing secret there?

A small 'stalkers shrine' to the charms of pasty Queen Liz, perhaps?

Fresh water seems to be quite random in Centralia.
Any plan to bring irrigation to Carse and/or Land's End rice smile
[you might need a lot of worker-turns or wait for border expansion]

Thanks for the screenshots, Nakor.

Should Queg really be on a rathaus, though? I can understand the benefit, but we might be able to get another military unit to threaten Dantski's island city that's right next to ours. Perhaps a landschknet?

I'll check the turn before it ends, perhaps I'll be the last ones to finish.

Also - I highly doubt that India is attacking us. From their point of view, attacking athlete is so much better because he borders them and actually has more cottageable land than we do. If I had to guess, I'd think that they'd attack athlete while trying to convince Dantski and plako/broker to dogpile us. Slaze ... dunno.

EDIT: I looked at the game. Be sure the worker from Darmkoor goes on the plains forest hill "1" of Ylith to chop and mine. Ylith should probably be on a military unit.

Sorry, read your edit to late. Send the worker to the incense? to chop and plantation.

Started the turn. RP is in, Rifling in 3t. Dantski is going for Chemistry and just got a GS. Guess he might think someone is coming for him.

Where do we go after rifling?

Not a lot to do, just build build build...

EDIT: BTW, I just forgot to take that screenshot of Yabon...banghead

I don't have the time to check the turn, so you can just end it right now. smile

Although don't forget, I still think that Sethanon shouldn't be building a grocer as its useless right now.

Keep building military.

Was looking at the turn and saw this:

We'll only be one above the health limit in this city (and it doesn't generate any gold when at full research), so I figured that an extra trebuchet would work - it's a 1-turn build.

Rifling in 2 turns. smile Very nice.

Reminders:

1. The worker by Krondor who finished cottaging needs to start roading the cottaged tiles EAST (to the right) of Krondor. A valuable road network in war can be a powerful material.

2. The worker who farmed Yabon's tile should farm again (favoring growth) but should farm the tile directly left (WEST) of Yabon to avoid being on the Korean border.

3. Good idea on a trireme in Ylith! smile I hadn't thought about that - good thinking there. We should probably have 2 and put them on both sides of our island.

4. Dantski has a chariot by Yabon. Be careful.

Now, here's the big thing ... where we put our plan we discussed into action.

We should switch to Theocracy and Nationhood after Oxford University is done (3 turns) OR when Rifling is done (2 turns) - ideally I'd like Oxford to be done right after the civic change but I can deal with it being done in 4 turns (loss of bureaucracy = less capital production). In preparation for theocracy, we should start queuing up units 1 turn to completion. I've done so in Port Natal, and we may want to do so for cities like Crydee, etc.

Last thing: what are the worker plans for Centralia and on our own personal island?

A busy turn indeed. Next turn will likely be even busier.

1. We will finish Rifling next turn and then can finish Theology the following turn. Therefore, after Theology, I think it's best that we switch civics to Nationhood and Theocracy and switch our state religion back to confucianism. This will enable us to draft riflemen who also have 2 experience points with a barracks and Confucianism.

2. With Theocracy coming up, I used this time to switch around builds so that we could have units 1 turn left to completion ready by the time Theocracy comes along. Crydee switched to a catapult (trebuchet 1 turn left to completion), Krondor switched to a trebuchet (macemen 1 turn left to completion). However, La Mut can build all significant units in 1 turn so there is no point in trying to micromanage builds in that city. With confuianism in mind I changed Sethanon to make a missionary for cities such as yabon and port natal that need confucianism.

3. Ylith will finish a trireme next turn and should start on our third galley. We should have 2 by Margrave's Point and one by Queg (Queg can build siege quickly so we can transfer those units over to the main ring).

4. Land's End won back the fish from Dantski and should probably slow-build the Moai to completion (or whip for 2).

5. Barracks are being built in the center cities because they might be drafting centers later.

6. Be sure to road on the tile that will be Loriel, because then the settler can settle the first turn it is created, not the second.

7. I am gathering some siege and other troops in the capital.

8. Am I wrong or is Dantski just 2 techs away from grenadiers (Chemistry and Military Science)? That's bad. cry

9. As soon as we can, whip Stardock for the Globe Theatre. We want it to draft every turn.

10.. All the espionage we're putting on him is paying off.

Nakor - before we draft, we need to carefully plan on which cities should do the drafting. Any thoughts?

I really enjoy drafting and have used it a lot in single player, but this will be my first multi-player drafting experience. We'll see what happens. lol If all else fails with Dantski's grenadiers we could try and target Korea.
