The consesus seems to be to ban as few as possible which comes down to Hungary and Scythia. I do not have yet have Gran Colombia nor Ethiopia, shall we include these two or shall we roll with the above CIVs without the latest two additions? (Gran Colombia would likely be a ban as well I think, I did not check Ethiopia yet)

My current idea for the CIVs would be to give Thrawn and Ljubljana the easier to execute OP CIVs.
I would then split the remaining 36 CIVs equally so we get hopefully another full set of CIV analyzations   

What do you think?

I already started shuffling the lists to players, if we stick with my idea, thrawn and Ljubljana will get a randomized shuffle of the Rome, Russia, Nubia, Australia on top of their choices.
There are also France (Eleanore), England (Eleanore) and Norway remaining, which we can distribute in the 3 veteran players to get to 8 CIV choices for Vets and 9 for Beginners.

Currently only player 4 has no CIV which was in the OP category before, but with China, Greece (Gorgo) and Persia he has three strong options from the good category.

Ioan is the 5th player in this game, right? I know he's dedlurking you in PBEM 18 but I think he counts as a greenie here. In that case maybe randomize three out of the four between them and leave the fourth civ out?

The blue civs, espcially not Mapunche now that I know you can avoid the GA, aren't that OP so your not shafting player 4. You should pay attention if player one starts too close to someone because they could pick Sumer.

Everyone and their mother dedlurks so doing that doesn't do anything. You should ask Ioan, via PM, if he considers himself a greenie to avoid an awkward situation. He should pick after the other 2 if everyone wants a brat pack civ, to avoid accusations of favoritism, and use the coinflip for the other two players.

You are right, Ioan is a beginner, I had wrongly in my mind that MJW would be playing.
In that case I think Suboptimal's suggestion is the best regarding the OP branded CIVs.

I will wait until tonight and then post their picks in the threads. Does anybody else want to do the randomizing of above list to the players?

I can give the civ pick list randomizing a shot. Just to be clear:

1) Assign each of the above lists to a player
2) Distribute one of Australia, Rome, Russia & Nubia to Thrawn, Lkubljana and Ioan
3) Distribute one of Norway and each Eleanor to CMF & TAD

OK...assuming my prior post this is the list (via random.org):

Ljubljana: Player 1 List + Russia
Thrawn: Player 2 List + Nubia
CMF: Player 3 List + Norway
Ioan: Player 4 List + Rome
Archduke: Player 5 List + Eleanor/England

If this looks fine I'll post the lists to the player threads. Speaking of which, need to poke Ioan into creating a thread.

That looks perfect, I already poked Ioan for his thread but you can do it as well.

Please make a note that they should only rename their thread with their CIV after everyone has picked their CIVs.
I think Ljubljana was already thinking about it and normally the players should not know the others picks when deciding themselves.
