I ve been thinking about this and we might think about vicky (Fin/Imp) it could be nice, fin could really help since having 5 river grassland on our capitol could mean 5 cottages from early on buffed thanks to fin ( also there is floodplains near for a second/third city). And imp trait could help us to get soon the settlers and faster the gers.
I am still wondering which i should lock, mongols or the leader? If we are trying to get imp for the gers maybe lock mongols to grant gers and keshiks and then cyrus or vicky? What do you think?
Elgrillo took egypt in PB51 so maybe he could pick mongols as another early civ, but if you agree with locking mongols i would start the sims.
And just in case we dont get Mongols what would be the second option in your opinion?

Are the current selections, we're up in two.
Nauf: Spain UB: Never obsoletes, +2 XP for naval units.
He decided to go for spain, which is a bit interesting, I always thought the UU was criminally underrated, and the UB is great for catapults. Pair this with toku, and you have yourself a warmonger that has an enormous advantage in medieval and renaissance combat. Or, just go protective + econ and be a midgame threat.
Ruff-hi: Hannibal - Probably not as good in CtH, but still a top/obvious pick.
Miguelito: Byzantine - everyone knows why people play Byzantium. Cataphract rush.
Mr. Cairo: England - probably will pair with Fin for cheaper stock exchange, and just tech to redcoats for the win.
So far, I'm seeing picks that are cautious early and stronger late, but that can easily change with the next set. I guess the map is expected to be somewhat larger?
I think Mongolia is a bit of a "one-trick pony" - it can only really be played one way, but here's 4 threads with well-detailed mongol play.

Otherwise, I'd like to try Agg Zulu? The double-edged maintenance reduction, even though it isn't that large, is still pretty tempting. As always, having a few impis can both counter any annoying horse archers, and can surprise opponents with a really early two-mover.
A less aggressive option is something like Babylon? Sumeria with Org?

A less aggressive option is something like Babylon? Sumeria with Org? Comm said there would be around 90-100 tiles per person, on PB49 there were 70 per person apx. So its going to be larger, maybe mongols is not the pick.
I like agr zulus, could go for ragnar (Fin/Agr) or Gengis (Agr/Imp) or Kublai (Agr/Cre) or even toku (Pro/Agr)
But maybe Holly Rome looks nice to you, It does to me hehehe, rathous -75% maint is nice and Landsknecht that goes well vs mazes and vs Cataph and kind of vs Conquistador looks nice to me Only counter xbows. There is so much Org leaders, but maybe Darius could be the choice (Fin/Org). I think it could be the play. What do you think?
Eventhough ill read all of them. The PB46 I read some threads, like yours and pindi, but not commodore's so ill read it now, and i didnt know the rest so ill try to read them.

Your turn to choose, vanrober. Are we taking mongolia, or do we lock in Vicky?

These games aren't played on high enough difficulty to make org worthwhile, and unless we're going to play for religion, org rel, and run a bunch of really high-maintenance civics, I don't expect it to be a good choice. Holy Rome is eh. Cyrus or Vicky is up to you. Cyrus really signals far more aggression, while Vicky gives a chance for late-game development with cottages - we'll have a backup plan. Then again, with Cyrus we only need... 4 exp for the second promo? So we'd only need gers, no need for barracks.
edit: fin/org holy rome is not a bad combo, but it's very slow to start, and holy rome has really bad starting techs. I tried Darius of Aztecs in PB46, and as Krill put it "probably the slowest starting combo possible" - Holy Rome will actually be even worse, since Aztecs get a cheap and very early courthouse in RtR mod.
I think with no-score, it really would be more interesting to play someone aggressive like the mongols.

I was afraid of having one neighbour far away. Like on PB51, i had Mjmd and Amicalola around 20 tiles far, so i couldnt try any early agression (Or at least i didnt know how) But lets go!
If we get both leaders on the second round I wouldnt be sure which to chose, If we are going full agro Cyrus could be the choice but if for some reason the early is not great we might fall behind.
I guess a decent early game would give us the needed snowball, this game seem to be all that.
