Interesting you are thinking CHM/Stonehenge and ORG/Aztecs, I always feel like discounted buildings make things like "free monuments" or "half-priced courthouses" *less* attractive.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

I'm picking 4th so that is going to be very interesting in terms of whats left after the first 3 picks. In fact I'm not sure whether this position is good or bad. We have to pick a civ first though because Myst is the most important thing here. We'll fit the traits around the civ that we get.

1) FIN Spain please...

8t 2pop
9t WB complete
t11 fish netted
t17 worker completes... yeah I think I could live with that + the huge commerce bonus from working the fish

2) Byz - phracts and hippos? yes please

3) Aztec - gimmie those Altars, slavery is unnerfed, slavery is king

4) PRO Celts or CHA Maya...

Well I think courthouses are fairly expensive and I want the altars ASAP.

The Monuments give a happy bonus and I want them everywhere, BUT I don't want to actually spend time building them. Stonehenge gives me that CHA bonus without the time investment around building one in each city.

Basically I guess I'm thinking strength on strength, but I will say that the ORG Aztec is much less of a sure thing.

America I would totally try if not for the Myst bonus commerce AND the fact that you upped the cost of it making it difficult to get to early and a huge cost opportunity. You basically have forced everyone to try and get Myst because otherwise every civ that doesn't gets -1 commerce. So just to break even with the other civs you have to tech Myst even if you don't want to go for a religion early. And by making it more expensive you made it harder to do that as well. Basically a waste of time and commerce. Anyone who doesn't pick a myst civ has to consume a neighbor in the early game to keep par I think. Cyrus of mongols might possibly be able to do it, but not much else.

You don't have to apologize. I also already made a decision regarding Myst, so enjoy the last PB that has commerce on Myst for the foreseeable future. smile

Whelp Serdoa got half of my golden pairing. But I think I got the more important half with Spain. I was really hoping to Wang Kon tonight with everybody. FIN/PRO would have been perfect for Spain with Citadels and just the pure power of FIN. I woulda been the envy of the tech world, and now Serdoa is the tech darling.

Where does that leave me?

I wanted FIN PRO, but now I have to choose one of these two instead of both. FIN or PRO? PRO is so good for half price walls>citadels> +1 TR and PRO boosted TRs at that. But FIN is just good esp on water, and I'm thinking of being a naval power here, particularly with Citadels. BUt then of course Citadels(and walls) are so much more expensive without PRO.

I think it has to be PRO...

After that? Man the world is my oyster.  Let's run through my top choices.

CHA for extra happiness AND lower XP reqs on my ships.
IND for cheap forges and a chance at some good wonders like TGLH.
...
IMP for settlers? and stables for Conquistadors? -- Do I even care so much about Conquistadors?
SPI for switches and cheaper temples?
ORG for maintenance and cheap CH, Lighthouses? A help at TGHL? Also faster factories...

OOF I need some input and thoughts

I think I've narrowed it to IMP, CHA and SPI now.

IMP settlers on map with some room powered by PRO trade routes sounds great, though I'm not sure I can get to Conquistadors very quickly... ANybody have some experience with that and whether its even viable? I figure I'd have to hard beeline it for it to make a difference? Maybe some bulbs.
CHA happiness and XP units can't go wrong
SPI because its going to be useful with me going for an early religion and later religion/slavery/vassalage shenanigans

I think IND might be weaker and ORG isn't as exciting. Also I might not be the only IND? which would definitely take some shine off. If I were it might be better, but I am 3rd in turn order which isn't bad. Anyway the top 3 I feel just a bit better about.
