AH is a fine first tech for any start, and especially with the amount of flat grass/plains tiles at the start. Horses take a meh tile, add +2 base yield, and allow a pasture for another . AH will be needed anyway for deciding on a 2nd city location (again, horses are a strong yield tile plus the strategic resource). There is time to research any other necessary builder techs.
I strongly strongly believe that warrior first should be the default build, just as worker first is the default build in Civ 6. The utility of warriors vs barbarians is essential. Scouts require a warrior build before the settler (and risk delays to improvements if waiting until after builder). Slingers are ineffective at best, and useless at worst vs barbs.

Tough luck ljubljana, you have to play exactly that position

Here is Ioan's save with Ethopia, Maya & Colombian and the two Persona mods deactivated.
Still no Nan-Madol, city states look completely different and Russia has 2 Military as the closest ones now, that might help with his defense.
Do not read PBEM18 players

Good think I checked the save before posting, it was accidentally on online speed. I created a new save and posted it in Ioan76'2 thread.
The CS switched completely, but still no Nan Madol. Now there are:
- 1 religious
- 1 commercial
- 4 cultural
- 4 military (iirc)

Believe me, I am the last person to be tossing shade about investing excessive time into a Civilization Multiplayer game.
But even I can't recall ever placing 41 pins on the map on Turn 0.

I will never feel bad about doing a Turn 10 fantasy pinmap in one of my PBEMs ever again.

I did the same, without the pins though, in PBEM17 and PBEM18 to guess where to move my early Warriors. The pins might have helped being more consistent, but it looks excessive xD

Ioan76 has had the turn over 24 hours. In the PBEM 18 setup he explicitly stated he wouldn't be playing on weekends. While I don't think he did that here his responsiveness in the org thread, especially around weekends, had been lacking. If he doesn't play until Sunday night/Monday morning his local time and it repeats next weekend I expect this game (or Ioan76) will be ending prior to Turn 50.
