[SPOILER] Close to Win

T195:

And just like that Jowy stopped bombarding and attacked. It was a bloody battle, but the city held for now. Do I need to mention that Jowy won:

- 1 near 50% fight
- 3 x 17% fights
- 1 x 40% fight
- and even 1 x 1.7%ish fight

while I only won against one of his 60% fights. Very classy game. Golfclap

As you can see I abandoned DiplomatKobolds and moved everything into the capitol in the hope that it holds 1 more turn. I only need to log back in and suicide my cats into his stack.

Back in the north his units just moved in, but in the south he retreated and boarded back into his galley. Victory! crown

As you can see I'm very close to Astronomy. Come on game, just give me that and an island. smile

The capitol held once more at the price of one DiplomatKobold, which was razed by a single knight. This battle went pretty well. Jowy threw away all of his knights sometimes even into 0% fights. Don't know what happened there. But fortunately this means the capitol will hold even the next turn as Jowy has not enough units there. Also what is Mjmd doing there? Is that a rescue mission? I also asked him for a single iron last turn, because I might lose my iron from his last deal by loosing my stone. He accepted.

All in all it looks good again. My medieval army is doing as best as it can in defeating a rifle based army. crown

Up in the north the situation might become a bit sketchy, because I moved a maceman in the wrong direction, which was meant to reinforce the north. Well mistakes happen. I also killed the knight that razed DiplomatKobold with a pikeman from FlyingBarbarian, so no more 2-movers for Jowy anymore.

As you can see I will also finish Astronomy in 2 turns. This will happen as of now. Now I only need an island to settle. Dance

PRO/guerilla archery units are going to be a nightmare to attack into (assuming your cities are on hills, duh). This, of course, gives you a chance to make it a psychological bluff and go on a complete rampage hammer .

You know, ST. I think we can change the 'cautious turtler' into 'total turtler' right now.  lol

I think I should have gone with a teenage mutant ninja turtles theme this game. Or maybe I rename the celts into the turtles.  wink

Looks like the first attack on the capitol was a loss for both of us. Next turn we see how it went for him in the second attack. I expect that this time his graph sinks more then mine.

Reinforcements for Jowy are coming along, but I think it will take too long for them arrive. Meanwhile in the north Jowy decided to besiege BerserkHalfling. I have exactly 5 units (1 mace and 4 longbowmen) in there against his 5 rifles. Hopefully it is enough.

But as you can see the most important event this turn is that Mjmd is in full support mode. He's even building roads in my territory. Amazing eek

It's a bid sad that we don't play with vassalls, because this is one of those situation in which it totally makes sense that I become his vasall. smile

Thanks to his support I also learned another tiny mechanic in civ. I have no units in ExploringFauns, but I still get MP happiness from his unit stationed in the city. Neat. smile

EDIT: Oh and as you can see I accomplished the first goal of project St. Helena: Astronomy

I'm thinking about renaming my civ to: The Undying.

Honestly that's amazing. I still rejected his offer for two reason:

1. I want to know what Mjmd will do in this conflict. How much will he support me? Will he even reconquer cities for me?

2. As you can see Jowy already started retreating his units. Now I don't see a reason to help him there. As long as his units are in my territory he has to pay some heafty supply cost and there must be some war weariness happiness in his cities, so I think I can wait a little bit longer with signing for peace.

Uh, that must have hurt. His second attack on my capitol was a total desaster.

So now that I have Astronomy it's time to look for some new techs. I'm planning to go for gunpowder next via Education. I know it's the more expensive route instead of guilds, but knights won't be that useful anymore in the near future instead of Education, which has useful stuff. There are two reasons I'm going for gunpowder next:

1. Every better unit requires it.
2. With Astronomy and Gunpowder I can start building some Privateers. With those I can pillage Jowys trade routes, which might earn me some great gold in the process.

I also started a galleon in KeenIceWitches. Still no island found, but I think 1 galleon will get some use in the near future in some way or another.

Jowy will be out of my territory next turn and he set up everything to pillage my tile improvements. Because of that and because Mjmd didn't really made any move forward I offered Jowy peace.

My galleon is out to the east. Honestly I don't expect to find any island out in the ocean, but what else should I do with it. GKC, when I'm gone, I would like to know if there would have been any ocean islands on this map.

Jowy accepted peace in T200 and I'm back to rebuilding stuff. So far I didn't bother with building up any more force, because what good are they anyway against rifles. Better try to get to newer units. To my amazement Mjmd didn't not take the chance to attack me and still keeps a sizable force in my land as protection I guess.
