The holy rule is, no mobile phones or newspapers in the sauna. So unfortunately that time will be dedicated just for thinking about this game.

I would be interested to know why you think that. I would expect most people to likely claim vanilla today, so the discussion would be more focussed around roles in general and how they interact
I was considering starting a discussion on possible setups and roles as Brick gave us some information in advance about what we can expect and to see other peoples take on this. But I will hold for the moment to get a better understanding on your take.

How good can you concentrate in a 80° C Sauna?
Question list:
1. I will likely be able to check the forum frequently during work hours, though will only be able to post sporadically or shortly either because I am on my phone or working . That being said, I hope lunchbreak will be a good oportunity to read up and maybe post. My working times are relatively flexible, but I am typcially occupied between 08:00 - 18:00 CEST (UTC +2).
2. The big game was amazing but the huge amount of roles and their exact meaning was overwhelming. There are nearly 200 roles/categories on the mafia page, way too much for a beginner to start. I hope this game will help me getting a feel for the game and how typical setups look like as well as the standard roles to be expected.
3. I do not have any WW forum experience beyond reading WW46 as a lurker. I have played maybe 3-4 games offline WW and remember that we had to elect a major during day, I think he was the deciding factor in ties but he might have had another role as well. Besides that there were Wolves, a Hunter (similar to the Vigilante, I believe) and a Seer (similar to the tracker)
pindicator, I would love to hear your thoughts on random voting vs. discussion on topics for the first day. Maybe you can also chime in on the role discussion on day 1 topic

Still awaiting some inputs from three players who hasn't posted yet.
Pindicator has a point though, El Grillo's question list is not only good way to start discussion but also for fishing out which potential newbies can be used to lure into mislynch.

Whew, just woke up. Let's kill some wolves.
1. Whew, just woke up. More seriously, I will try to be active while awake (~now - 15 hours from now, or 7-22:00 AEDT), though sometimes uni lectures, tutorials, or family will get in the way for a couple of hours at a time.
3. Decent amount of in-person mafia while camping and the like, but never online.
2. As a result, I'm planning to figure this out as we go. Facial expressions aren't as readable online, so presumably holes in arguments, or past voting history, would play far bigger roles.
I like that this gives us a nice starting point instead of the mess that was Day1 of the 46 game. With that said, I also agree that this question list feels a bit like fishing bait.

Alhambram, from what do you attribute that intent to me? I am willing to play a less frenetic game in this smaller setting where we accommodate people with busier schedules, and posed the question so we don't repeat the mistake last game of assuming early and frequent activity had to be pro-town and then mislynching someone who didn't fit the pattern.
Continuing along that line of thought, I'm suspicious of thrawn's play so far, where he spammed the beginning of the day and then immediately jumped on pindicator for asking a reasonable question, especially in light of pindicator's response that he hasn't seen questions like mine before. Perhaps thrawn doesn't actually think pindicator is scum, but he wanted a convenient place to put his vote without a real chance of a wagon going anywhere.

Morning everyone (both in-game and in-person).
I see I am already being asked to answer some questions, but we have to start the day somewhere so sure.
1. Timezone is GMT+8, I won't be able to post during work hours but should usually be able to check in during lunch and spend a but more time during evenings.
2. Considering my inexperience some experimentation will be in order. Early on encouraging posts to generate information, that can hopefully be used later on with more concrete information from voting and role flips.
3. Nil. Don't have much experience with mafia in person either, aside from some poorly run party games (2 wolves in a 6 player games is too much).
thrawn seems a bit fishy so far. Can you explain why you are so eager to start claiming roles immediately, and townie for yourself (the classic wolf claim)?
Still waiting for T-Hawk to check in, but after that I think everyone is here.

So thrawn, you say that, but also acknowledged pindicator's response, which answered your question to him, and are still voting for him? I accept that you're comfortable changing your vote many times before the day's over, that's fine, but are you still waiting for pindicator to say more here? If that's the case, why haven't you been more clear about what you want from him?

The timing. Why claim immediately on Day 1? Seems pointless for village at best.

And the point for a mafia member would be? Draw questions and suspicion as it's doing?
We could WIFOM this all day, but you didn't answer my original question. Why did you claim immediately on Day 1?
Still waiting for T-Hawk to check in, I'm off to work now.

1. How actively do you intend to monitor the thread and post?
Less actively than I actually end up doing. I'm awake during Pacific Time hours and work from home so I really should not be posting during work hours but sometimes we have a slow day.
2. What is your preferred style of scum-hunting?
Badly, if we take last game as an example.
3. What is your experience with forum mafia?
Just the WW games here. I thought I was pretty good at it when I first signed up and we were playing games back in 2013. But last game really felt like I missed the tells. Or maybe I'm just not fit to play SK.
Expanding on #2, one thing I like to look for as a scum tell is not so much the first person to make an argument or even a bad argument against a player, but who jumps on to an existing argument and why. Now for instance, you could look at Kaiser as he put a second vote on me just now but for a completely different reason than thrawn:
(September 20th, 2020, 15:17)Kaiser Wrote: pindicator, I would love to hear your thoughts on random voting vs. discussion on topics for the first day. Maybe you can also chime in on the role discussion on day 1 topic
I hate day 1 in that I'm no good at it. Though I was reading past game (WW26) last week and apparently I had a run years ago where I successfully hit scum several night 1s in a row with role powers. If you count scooter last game, i guess that streak continued? In any case i don't think I'm as good day 1 as a Gaspar or a Lewwyn. But I can see how forcing people to come up for reasons for voting for people can actually give hints for how they align. I don't see how discussing outside topics does the same, but I'd like to understand a new way to play if it actually works.
But Kaiser's question isn't really piggy-backing on thrawn's accusation any and it seems more like a poke-him-to-make-him-talk kind of vote, which I'm generally in favor of. So Kaiser's question isn't a bad thing in my mind.
Instead I am curious how you suspect El Grillo will lose his list to fish out newbies in a newbie game, Alhambram.
