TBS, what the hell is up with these clock games. Quit hogging the end of the turn. I might not be so willing to join Cornflakes in attacking you if it weren't for this bullshit

But having less land is an issue with being sandwiched between two players - you don't have a safe corner you can expand into later like commodore. However, you seem to have the easiest access into the middle from your capital?

I didn't even consider the peaks, but you're right. It's not visible on these screenshots, but my little land-bridge to the middle is just as long as TBS's, and I don't think my starting location is actually any closer to the middle than his.

Just read this apparently....

When i created the starts ( first time mapmaker <3 ) i envisioned yours being the one that gets into the middle the fastest. I missed how many peaks you might have vs others, but overall other than MAYBE one or two things... not counting the lushness, i thought balance wise it wasnt bad.

Maybe next time ill get some actual requests for the map. And maybe ill get to put pre-placed barb cities with longbows in them in a "super" lush area.... Ah, one can dream.

So, from screenshots in other threads I've discerned a Steely Dan theme. Thumbs up once again for your musical taste; here are my personal top two from each album:

Brooklyn, Reelin' in the Years
Bodhisattva, Show Biz Kids
Pretzel Logic, Any Major Dude Will Tell You
The Royal Scam, Don't Take Me Alive
Josie, Deacon Blues
Time Out of Mind, Babylon Sisters

Thanks, finding names that fit in within the character limit was a bit of a pain. Here's my entire empire, shortly before it's fall:

Commodore just ended OB, so I am going to assume he's about to attack me. I had kinda hoped to just sneak through all the warring (although I did plan on taking Sicca), and use my actually decent economy to get a good tech advantage:

But no. Oh well.

Ha.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that Commodore is planning on attacking me next turn.

Sequence of events:
1) DaveV posted something innocent about my city names.
2) I'm already playing my turns in other PBs so it's not big deal for me to log in to this one so I can show off all my city names to DaveV.
3) But that reveals that Commodore cancelled OBs.
4) Commodore posts in his thread, I'm guessing complaining to DaveV that I log in after he posts in my thread, thus revealing the cancelled OBs and probable attack.
5) DaveV now posts in Commodore's thread, apologizing?

It's funny. Commodore posting something, followed very soon after by DaveV posting something in Comm's thread, just makes me even more sure about an attack. I could even log back in again and whip everything and move stuff around, since there's no turnsplit yet.

I'm not going to, but still.

Maybe there should be a stricter rule about logging in after you've hit end turn. It's something that seems to happen regularly, people often can't play their turns and make a report at the same time so they go back after the fact to take screenshots and stuff, but it seems to risk a lot of issues with regards to turnsplits and stuff like that.

So yeah, I was right:

I'm sure Comm is very pleased with everything, not that it'll make much of a difference anyway.

His Knights are so highly promoted even with Cats and Ballistaphants I can still barely get good odds (according to my sim). I need to wait and build up as much as possible before hitting his stack with everything I've got.
I'm going to abandon Josie, put a some Pikes in Peg so he will either move slowly towards it, or lose some Knights to take it, and prepare for a stand outside my cap.

So, he took Josie, but then moved in all his two movers, while unloading some stuff off of boats.

So while I was planning to wait until I had more Cats, this is an opportunity. He's left some of his 1-movers behind, and being in a city, my CR2 Swords will have actual worth. My Ballistaphants don't get their special ability, but that's ok.

The challenge was, as always, figuring out which would be better on my Cats, CR2 and Barrage 2. I realised after my sims that I needed barrage. His Knights always defend against the Cats, but after that, the Janissaries defend, and I need to kill/injure them with my Swords. CR2 deals more damage to the Knights, but less to the Janissaries, so I need to use Barrage.

I'll be back after the battle.

Good luck! I'd have worried that not taking advantage of the special ability would be giving up too much, but it sounds like you've reasoned it out well. smile
