I'm trying to offer mutual profit; Scooter is welcome to snipe some Cairo before he turns again to fight Cornflakes after discovering Gunpowder and thus unlocking Pinch.

He didn't respond, so I offered the two Cairo cities for every border city we share on his side. I also spent every single gold piece I own towards Chemistry, so there's nothing for Scooter to be tempted to extort. I'd rather mutually benefit still, but if we need to tussle at zero-sum, it's okay given the game state.

Heh, Scooter is trying to extort cities from me. I think this is the first time he's been in the lead? Dude, you're top dog, nobody can give you anything.

Okay, won't be able to play for a while yet, but looks like:
A. Scooter took and razed Sunnyside.
B. Mr. Cairo accepted my peace offer for his two cities.

So then. Scooter, unable to extort me, decided to burn the city that I culture bombed. He is now at 18 nice, big, productive cities. I have 16, and my army is horribly out-of-position. There is absolutely zero reason for me to take peace now; I cannot win with a white peace with Scooter. The peace treaty we were enjoying was a tense but decently stable deal designed for us to basically mutually shut out everyone else from a shot at victory. Even though Scooter was better off than me, I figured I had a shot at Cairo crumbling and thus might be able to get the upper hand. Now though, Scooter is the clear top dog and I'm the clear second place. I'm stuck; no way to really take out Cairo sans cannon. But Scooter seems to have massively ticked off Cornflakes, killing Cornflakes' shot at winning while not managing to profit himself much at all. There's a lot to be said for a 2-front war against ole' boy, assuming the long peace treaty doesn't have Cornflakes checking out entirely to hand Scooter the game.

Did you end up with any cities net of the peace treaty?

Would you play on a future superdeath made map, Yes or No?
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. Nope, not at all. Net zero cities. Basically paid for my military in capture/pillage gold, and that's about it.

Scooter made a mistaaake.

He did unto me a small injury.

What forces he has were sufficient to take Sunnyside, but they can't take Yakima...I already have three jans, a pike, two spears, and some siege crammed in there. Thanks to engineering roads, next turn I have all my two-movers from the Cairo front there. Two turns later, it's the huge core of veterans one-movers. Then we're on the offensive. There's a small chance I could crack AT's former capital next turn; either way, he's not about to make progress in the far east.

He sent me an offer of white peace, and then a pair of offers about "stop trading with TBS". Yeah bud, sure would be nice to be able to coordinate and shut out Carthage, wouldn't it?

I made Scooter an offer he very much needs to consider: Peace for 1000 gold. This nets me Chemistry, so halfway to Steel and cannons. I can then time it just right to have a cannon wave in time to actually conquer Cairo properly ten turns later after war/peace with Scooter again, because he's never getting trusted with peace not enforced by game mechanics ever again this game. Whoopsie-doodle, buddy, I think you screwed the pooch here.

I'd be a piss-poor systems engineer if I blamed an implementation I was unhappy with on the executor, not on the req. I'd want a much better requirements document, but otherwise...

Looks like Scooter paid cash for peace. Good enough, can double up on him with Cornflakes in ten turns if...

Anyways, I can help you those days in PB53, if you leave me detailed intructions.  I haven't read anything from PB53.
Well crap.

Well, Cornflakes is about as checked out as you can get, meaning this might well be hopeless. At least I'm the Pope now?

Is Scooter actually fighting Cornflakes, despite his vacation? A little surprised here; I figured Cornflakes had checked out and would just allow himself to be pushed over eternally for the nonce. Which is a very disappointing thought.
