[SPOILERS] naufragar earns no points

No wounds! party This means that, if I attack a chariot, I can use the spear's promotion to heal, rather than using it immediately.

I was sloppy last turn. I should have switched the order of my warrior/worker blockade. I should have put the worker on the northern tile and the warrior on the southern one to incentivize the capture of the northern piece which would have put Scooter's chariot out of range of the capital. As it is, I might have to think a bit next turn. The capital's archer loses to two chariots (1 of which will have Combat 1 next turn) about 43% of the time. This is way too high.

I mentioned in the tech thread but I'll repeat here: Is anyone willing to cover the weekend turns (10/16-10/18). I'll leave instructions and hopefully the next turn (which I will play) will simplify the position. The turn pace has been crazy fast, so I might miss some three turns.

I don't seem to be able to connect. You may have to find someone else.

Pseudo-edit: I wrote all this before seeing your post. Sorry you're not able to connect, and thanks anyway for even being willing to step in!

The turn pace is incredible. Here is the report for turn 59.

The stack of units near Scooter's League of Legends is three workers and a chariot. They just finished chopping a forest. My warrior fought back heroically and damaged Scooter's chariot more than he should have, but I couldn't take advantage of that.

I made the following moves in response [edit: and then drew in lines for future moves]. I didn't realize how quickly the turn was going to turn around, so I marked up the pic with how I thought Scooter would move and how I'd ask civac2 to move in response when we got the save on turn 60.

(The galley is going to blockade Scooter's capital so he can't get a boat out without rolling against my galley. I have no idea what Scooter's teching. Once he gets Sailing, my copper is equidistant between him and me. I'll say that another way: after he gets Sailing, a unit from my capital takes two turns to get to my copper, while a unit from his capital takes two turns to get to my copper. Put another way, my copper is closer to Scooter than Vanrober's copper is to Vanrober. A cause for some trepidation.)

Since I got to play turn 60, we get to see how wrong I was:

Turns out, not very wrong at all. Scooter used the chariot by League to kill my scout rather than advance. Very ok with me. We should note that Scooter's chop + whip of that city probably means we're getting two chariots from there on consecutive turns. I'm seen 5 chariots and I'm sure there will be more. Stonehenge was 120 hammers; 80h for me. On the one hand, boy, I sure hope that Scooter can get some value out of his chariots. On the other hand, I sure hope he gets nothing out of his chariots.

If you're still willing, civac2, and if you can find a way to connect, here are some suggested moves. White and Black are two different scenarios.

In the white scenario, Scooter tries to take Seville. (Zulan's combat simulator tells me that he has between a 20-25% chance to succeed. Nothing to be done about those odds.) I expect him to retreat the chariot, in which case the warrior first goes to check for a hidden galley. If there are none, the spear traps the chariot and the worker starts to mine the copper. The archer should probably hedge our bets and stay in the middle between Madrid and Barcelona.

The white line of play doesn't really scare me. We've got less than a 25% chance to lose a city. So be it. The black line of play is much scarier. In this line of play, Scooter realizes that he doesn't like his odds on Seville and decides to focus on Madrid. One chariot (with two more right on its tail) come from League and the other units prepare. If neither of the chariots near Seville advance on Seville and if a chariot appears from League, we have to make the conservative plays and let Scooter's northern chariot live to cause trouble. The silver lining is that we can move the garrison of Seville and the worker to the horse to start pasturing. (It has to be both archers (the current one and the one about to complete), since Scooter could be sneaky and try to sneak a chariot through the Spooky Forest.)

Build orders are simple. Archers everywhere and whip when you can. Madrid can whip its archer next turn.

This was a weird mix of report + guidelines. If you're able to sub, thank you very, very much. I'll try to check the forums when I can, but that will be intermittent.

P.S. Is your name an Alpha Centauri reference?

I am good to go.

And yes it is.

scooted played as you anticipated (black scenario). He has one new chariot coming from League.

South:

Whipped the archer in Madrid and moved the northern archer into the city. The two archers in Sevilla now protect the worker pasturing the horses as you intended.

North:

Spear, Warrior and Worker retreated into Barcelona. Galley continued its way towards scooter's capital.

Ruff_Hi declared war on you to pass through with a work boat. He immediatly offered peace. I have declined for now but can offer peace again next turn if you want.

Situation:

I blockaded Starcraft and will whip Barcelona as discussed.

Orders for the units? There is only 6 hours or so left. I will ask scooter for a possible extension.

When attacking Barcelona scooter has about 8% odds unless I misuse the combat simulator which is always possible.

Sorry for the super late reply. I don’t know if I can give the best advice without logging in. Are there three archers in Madrid? If so, the spear can attack the chariot stack and the three archers can attack and clear the warrior and remaining chariot. This would leave the capital open to attack so a worker would need to move into Madrid.

Do these moves make sense or have I missed something huge? Also, could you turn on tech for horseback riding?

Again sorry for the brevity.

If you do that Barcelona will fall to the northern chariot.

Yes, there are 3 archer in Madrid.

Oh I see. There’s no archer in Barcelona but it’s being whipped this turn? In that case I guess there’s nothing to do but hunker in place.
