King REx, that is.
Krill and I have created our own PBEM. This is a pure rapid-expansion challenge; first one to space wins.
This one might be a little different.
Joao of the Inca (Exp/Imp, Quechua/Terrace, Mysticism/Agriculture).
Always Peace. Only Space Race is enabled.
Normal Speed (We'll pass the save along quickly enough).
Huge Map. Yes, you read that right.
No Barbarians, No Tech Trading: Fairly obvious.
No Vassal States.
I also modded the game slightly, removing the following things:
The 2nd civ teching bonus.
World Wonders (Didn't remove Versailles, because I was afraid to remove the Forbidden Palace instead; we're not going to be building Versailles, though)
Global Warming
Resources Popping from Mines
Intercontinental trade bonus
We Love The King Day
Also, we've agreed not to build any of the corporations (which makes State Property the obvious late-game civic).
If you're Krill, shoo. We don't need you in this thread any more.
Oh, and yes, we are crashing this sub-forum. It needs more threads.

And can a mod fix my thread title? It seems I misspelled my own name.
My start, after moving 1SE and settling:
Let's see:
Tech Mining --> Bronze Working.
Worker --> Worker --> Settler.
I'll figure out what to do from there.
My naming theme: The Federation. Who else expands across the galaxy like a plague, and still doesn't fight anyone given a choice?
Also, part of my game plan is NOT connecting copper. This way, if I need to get Hunting, I don't lose the ability to spam warriors. It's Barbless Always Peace, so why not take full advantage of that fact?

Can you build shrines, or are you counting those as world wonders?

Shrines may be built. There are 7 shrines...so it's not like one of us can monopolize them.
Realistically, though, after the State Religion, I have no intention to build a second shrine after that: I'd rather use my great people on Golden Ages. If I DON'T pop a 4-man Golden Age this game, please shoot me for being a fool.

This is a mirrored map, so based on the Demogs (identical, except that Krill has 6k land area, I have 7k) tells me that Krill settled in the mirror of 1NW of where I settled. This means he's actually on the coast, and can make the freshwater lakes 3/0/2 tiles, but I have more land tiles for BureauCottages.

I DEMAND RESOURCE VIEW ON!

I'll try to remember; the game always turns resource view off for me in these games; is there a way to change that?
Game as of T17:
Yes, we have been blitzing...
Note the forest growth 1E of Earth. I'll take it. That was one random thing we didn't amend.
So, my build has been slightly amended.
Worker --> Worker while farming corn.
SWITCH TO QUECHUA. I'm going to grow to size 2 on the corn, and then go back to the worker.
Worker #1 is heading to the available grass hill to mine.
Then, both workers will chop like mad, and knock out a settler, while getting 11 resources per turn from tiles (5 food, 4 hammers + 2 bonus).
No, we are not going to beat Rego and Darrell in posts. I'm not even going to try. Those two are professionals.

sunrise in the lurker thread:
sunrise089 Wrote:Here's my problem with this sort of game: think of how much time was lost just emailing the save back and forth in the early game. This is always peace - there are no double moves. This sort of game would be 10x better IMHO via pitboss, especially when the first 50 turns could be played in a single hour. Connection and coordination issues are trivial with only two players.
A PBEM save can be loaded for a Direct IP game, so you don't even need a pitboss host. I believe the turns are still sequential. Would you two consider doing that to knock through a few dozen turns?

We burned through the first 25 turns in about 2 hours. I'd say that's good enough to not worry about switching to a direct IP system. With the pbem tracker, and creating a shortcut-esque folder so I can drag-and-drop the file into my pbem folder, it takes me all of 30-45 seconds to load the save. And about 15-20 more to upload it.
Oh, and Krill whipped, so he's down to size 1. Maybe we should have looked into making this a true NoScore mod, but that would've required Ruff modifying his version, since "rival average" demogs tell us just about everything we need to know....
And in other news:
Krill used his first worker to farm; he hit 11 food on the demogs. I mined the hill 1NE of Earth.

Update, 2800BC/T30:
Advantage: Cyneheard:
+1 fpt, thanks to the mine; he's also whipping like mad, that's his 2nd whip.
Earth:
Second city (Vulcan) choice:
Gold, rice, some FP, coastal (but no seafood, so fishing/sailing are a low priority); can use WB to explore eventually, if I so desire.
My basic plan: Clear-cut Earth quickly
