Software engineer.  Time problems crop up randomly when you're least expecting it to, after all.  (it is, of course, a rather mean question ...)

I was a geneticist/biochemist for a long time; I only changed careers in ~2014.

I’ve been a software engineer since 2013 but I’ve never gotten into an issue where leap seconds were relevant. lol

Time and date is one of those things you would think was easy on computers, but is in fact very hard. Even standard library implementations can go haywire, we encountered a small bug in which oracle and SQL server would give a different number of years between two dates.

In other news, the game thread suddenly is saying 2 days to game start, when I was expecting it to say 6 minutes.

(Also, there sure are a lot of lurker posts already before the game has even begun ...)

Just updating the timer. Now it's showing when Day 1 ends. Go hunt scum.  hammer
