IMO, i learned best with more room to expand, meaning less early conflict. Gives you more time to learn the economic part of the game vs having to learn that AND get 10 chariots to the face on t50.

I meant to be condicionate, if some vet wants to join i would play it, otherwise i would love to global lurk it.
I get the point of a larger map, but the problem i see here is that the options with 4-5 cities are kind of limitated but with 15 cities there is a ton of possibilities and a lot of workers to see at his micro, so its much harder i think. To get defenses in a tight map is less since you can produce them from less cities, so you have less thing to choose on.

Hmmm. I wasn't going to join. Then it started looking like a PB51 reunion. Swapping Ruff for Plemo and Jowy fo SD. Both strict upgrades  .
Hmmmm how stupid am I?
I would say a 110 tiles per player would probably be a good mark where it is not too tight but not big.
