Here I collect some common problems with the mod:

The mod is not starting?

Do try the following things:

• Try to unzip the mod inside the mod folder
  
• Make sure the unzipped folder isn't a folder in a folder with the same names
  

I get messages about permission problems and/or can't write file in-game?

NobleHelium found a solution for this.

I figured out how to fix the permissions issue if you install in Program Files.  You have to change the folder's Security Settings such that the Users group has Full control, or at least Modify and Write permission.  This is the rough equivalent of chmod o+w in Linux.

Is that just the mods folder?

Not sure if changing it on the Mods folder will fix it for all current and future versions of the mod (depends on whether newly created folders inherit the permissions or not).  But if you change it individually for each CtH folder it will work for that version of CtH.
