i wanna say that copper is Charriu's doing... but it may very well be from my brain. Do they not have a copper to the north?

No reason to feel too bad about that and that's really not that big of an issue. When the maps are so tight as this one, stuff like this is bound to happen. If Amica wants the copper, he'll get it, he's IMP.

Ah yes that was me with the copper. They have horse and an iron on a river to their north. Only upside is that that copper is in the third ring of the capitol.

FWIW, gira and mack moved the capital to BFC horses and they're opening with AH research. With a map as tight as this and no BFC copper, mack might attack with chariots instead of keshiks. Could it even be possible to go for chariots before settlers?

I ran a quick sim and by opening with worker-warrior-chariot-chariot they can be attacking Byzantine's capital with 2 chariots on turn 33. However, that really distracts their growth so I doubt it's worth it, but we'll see.

Haven't really looked at the map, but some of these starts are bananas, without actual bananas. The stone vs marble is interesting because if it were me I would prefer to have stone over marble in my immediate vicinity to start the game. Marble is more mid game.

This game still has that new car smell where everyone is full of hope and promise and not everyone is jaded and pissed off that mackoti has backdoored into the game to roflstomp everyone.

I honestly think ( as a mapmaker ) that SIP should be mandatory... Just to prevent stupid Mackoti-style stuff from happening.

I mean why do you think he did it?

either gambling on a horse/copper farther than SIP would grab, or idk, saw the map?

Moving claims land and gives him a way superior midgame commerce capital with bureucracy. If I were Cairo, I would also have strongly considered moving due to same reason.
