Looking back at Mr. Cairo's start I wonder why he didn't do it. It's a lot easier decision then the one they did.

Tbf, Amica's starting position is probably the most cramped of all the positions, so I understand. Remember that he hasn't even met Noble yet.

Regarding Amica's starting position: having to go WB first without a 2h tile in the inner ring is just mean.

I mean, he could go worker first and get the corn up. Then go WB. It also allows for more worker turns maybe camp ivory and add a amine and then get to BW and chop a forest. I think I would have gone worker first for sure. The corn is a 6f tile and the crab is 6 yield with a lighthouse, but only 5 right now...

Worker first is the better opening. Ag-->BW
He's got first ring riverside corn. Farm it, mine the riverside grass hill and then chop. Settler at 3 working Corn, mine, and netted crabs or at 4 working camped ivory as well. 1st is faster, 2nd techs better.
WB 1st without a 3h 1st ring tile is almost always worse than worker first if you have a 5 food land resource. It's always worse if you have a riverside 6 food tile.

I downloaded the map from this thread but when I try and start it up it immediately goes into "You have been defeated" and won't load?

Yes, I expressed myself unclearly. Of course, it's inferior to go WB first, but if you do go for it, having to do it without a 3h/2h tile starting from T0 is horrible. Whether to do L3 or L4 settler is highly dependent upon how much you value having a warrior. It's easy to get T30 settler with 1 warrior built going worker --> wb --> warrior --> settler and teching agr -> hunting -> BW. Worker starts with corn, then improves camp, wastes a worker turn moving into a hill and mines it and finally completes the settler with a chop. I'm pretty sure this can be improved, but this is an obvious baseline.
