This is a website. I was talking about websites. Remember the discussion before about whether we should let these guys stay with normal people or banish them to places like 8chan (which would be one of these shitholes).

Again, what is the point you try to make? The moment you realize that something is part of you is the moment you start to choose if you follow the urges of this part or not. I KNOW that I have racist tendencies in me. I had a knife at my neck from a Turkish guy and I know that I do view people resembling this type more carefully now - I can't help it, it is an automatic reaction. But it is my choice how my non-automatic reaction that follows is. It is my choice if I scream "Lock them up" or blurt out that "They are all the same". It is my choice if I let my behavior be influenced. 

That something is part of your animal side ... that argument is very old. I remember I've heard that here in our Western civilization the last time in regards to why men can't help it but touch women they find attractive. I really don't see why we have to have this discussion again and again, when already a 100 years back smarter people than me have worked out why that is bullshit.

I'd also like to say: If you want to argue something you have to provide your arguments. Just stating "Oh, well, if you believe THAT... haha" is not really adding anything. It's your decision what you want to do, but if it is simply trolling, there are better places to do that.

Your waning is already here, look at the virus situation. Deny, rage, depress, that doesn't change anything. But maybe you're a bit more aware than it seems. One of your favorite shows has a slogan, 'winter is coming'.

I've actually thought a lot about your POV over my little hiatus.  It lead me to read a bit on the civil war, what lead up to it, and the division that remained in the country long after it concluded (especially the 1876 election).  That and a South Park episode after the 2008 election made me remember something.  Democracy is really damn messy.  It might look like decay from the outside, but you are missing the rejuvenation that also takes place.  Part of that rejuvenation is tackling things like racial discrimination, which may be part of our past but with education and reconciliation, isn't an inevitable part of our future.  The polars will get mad at my centrist ass for thanking you for taking the time to share you point of view, but thanks nonetheless .  I've just decided I see things differently...

Your accusations of ignorance and naïveté would be a lot more credible if you didn't spout wild conspiracy theories with less supporting evidence than a Trump attorney before a judge .

I think Ipecac is looking at this from A viewpoint. I think a very pessimistic viewpoint where things just never get better. He also seems to be saying that we should never try to be better, which I would argue is against human nature. Humanity changes and evolves. Slowly and stupidly sure. I mainly just don't get the constant negativity.

As an aside I mentioned it much earlier, but the main point of democracy isn't necessarily that it is more effective in the short term, it is that it avoids power grabbing and civil war later. You know a democracy with actual good controls in place.... I will very much state that the US is far from perfect. Even though it wasn't a true democracy the republic of Rome lasted 480 odd years before it was overtaken by authoritarians. The constant churn / internal civil war and quality of which I will very much argue led to its eventual downfall.
